NBA - Wade Helps Miami to Defeat Knicks Scoring 55 Points

The shooting guard of Miami of 27 years-old, Dwayne Wade, scored a career high of 55 points to help his team to beat the Knicks 122-105 this past Sunday. Wade was close to surpass the record in the franchise history set up by Glen Rice during 1995, when he scored a career-high of 56-points. However, Wade was not focused on this record or his own glory; he just wanted to obtain the victory against the Knicks to attain a good place in the playoffs. With this triumph, the Miami Heat got the No. 5 seed in the East Conference and will play the No.4 seed Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs this weekend.

During the game, Wade scored six three-pointers, shooting 6 of 12 from the three point range and also shooting 19 of 30 from the field. He scored 27 points only in the first half and Coach D’Antoni and the rest of the team thought that he will get cold in the second half of the game, but he was so confident and focused that he remained just unstoppable. This was the third time in the season that the MVP candidate of Miami finished with 50 or more points in a single game. Besides him, Lebron James is the only player that has accomplished three 50-point games this season.

Wade said later that he was so focused that he was not even talking with his teammates when he arrived to the arena. He was determined to help his team and get a good win. For him was very important to obtain a good result since the playoffs will start next weekend.

“My teammates thought something was wrong with me because I wasn't saying anything,” expressed the superstar of Miami. “I wasn't aware of the [record] and I didn't care for it. This was about getting a big win.”

Since the beginning of the game, Wade and his teammates were focused and they got an early lead of 11 points in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Knicks came back and cut the lead to finish up in the score 65-63 at half time. In the third quarter, things were equally managed by both teams; however the Miami Heat got the lead at the end with the help of Wade, Beasley and Chalmers, finishing up 97-91. During the last quarter, the Miami was more consistent and the Knicks look kind of sloppy in some parts of the last quarter, besides the shots of Wade and Beasley were really accentuated during the final minutes giving the Heat a final score of 122-105.

The best scorers for the Miami Heat were Dwayne Wade with 55 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, Michael Beasley with 28 points and 16 rebounds and Mario Chalmers with 15 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds. For the Knicks the best scorers were Wilson Chandler with 21 points and 3 rebounds, Al Harrington with 21 points and 6 rebounds, Quentin Richardson with 14 points and 7 rebounds and finally David Lee with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
