Express Bathrooms are UK suppliers of bathroom furniture and accessories. Based in Cheshire they supply a range of bathroom suites and stainless steel bathroom accessories.
In the UK many homeowners will wish that they had a bigger more luxurious bathroom. However if moving home or adding an extension is out of the question then people will find that they have to make the best of the room they do have. Fortunately there are a number of inexpensive design tricks that can make your bathroom appear larger.
Wall Mirrors – One of the best ways to give small bathrooms the appearance of being larger is to install mirrors on the walls. Mirrors act like large artificial windows as they help to create a feeling of openness in the room. Where possible use larger mirrors rather than smaller ones and use more than one so the light and feeling of space is multiplied from one mirror to another.
Lighting – Bad choice of lighting that casts shadows in the wrong places can make the bathroom appear small. When redecorating changing the type, number and placement of lights can make a significant difference to the rooms overall look.
Remove Clutter – The emptier a room looks, the larger it looks and so removing unnecessary clutter from the bathroom offers a quick and cost free way of improving its appearance.
Furniture Placement – In a small bathroom a free standing bath can take up much of the available space and so is not generally a good choice. To make your bathroom appear larger installing corner tubs and vanities can be the best option.
Build Up Not Out - Fitting cupboards high up on the wall will give you the storage you need without taking away valuable floor space. It is worth bearing in mind however that every item of furniture sticking out from the wall will make the bathroom seem smaller so it’s best to keep these to a minimum even if it means compromising on storage space. Removing shelves and decorative accessories from walls can be a great way to make your bathroom appear larger.
