No other energy source is needed if you have a 125HX tank- less water heater. Opening the hot water faucet causes energy to be used up; thus, the requirements are only flowing water and gas. The manufacturers claim an 82% efficiency rating for these models. Neither the need to change batteries nor battery life should concern you, any longer. There's no longer a need for an electricity connection; this simplifies installation, greatly.
Hot water will never get exhausted, unlike in the case of water tank heaters. Being small and lightweight, Bosch tank-less heaters can be mounted on a wall. They are energy efficient water heaters and incur low operating costs compared to conventional water heaters. They have a life expectancy in excess of 20 years.
Incidentally, the total cost of ownership is low despite the higher investment, due to low operating costs. And you get a superior product. The 125 series of heaters supply hot water to only one major outlet at a time; for endless supply of hot water, opt for high volume models.
