How Coffee Helps You Look Better

Posted: Nov 14, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

It's no secret that caffeine is a stimulant.  Caffeine is a common ingredient found in coffee, tea, pop and many energy drinks.  You can also buy caffeine tablets if sipping it from a cup isn't enough for you.  But for decades, the health care industry has been cautioning consumers to keep their caffeine intake to a minimal.  As far as dietary requirements go, it's not very good for you.

Enter: the beauty care industry.  It seems the same reasons that make caffeine a no-no in our daily diets are the same reasons it has become a popular skin care agent.  It's a stimulant.  Bad for the internal body, causing heart palpitations, hyper-activity and restlessness.  Good, however, for the skin, causing a reduction of wrinkles, stretch marks and cellulite.

Coffee: who knew?

The stimulating effects of caffeine are now being used as an active ingredient in lotions and creams to help fight cellulite and other skin ailments.  Applied topically, it stimulates the tissues, plumping up sunken areas and giving an overall smoother appearance to your skin.

Available in lotions, creams and body scrubs, caffeinated skin care products are usually at the high end of the price scale when it comes to beauty products.  Probably because they work extremely well.  It makes you wonder why we don't just have a bath in coffee.

Actually, that works too.

Coffee is packed full of caffeine and using coffee grounds on your skin has proven to be a cost effective way to get the same results as beauty counter lotions provide.  You can create your own body scrub by mixing coffee grounds with your favourite body lotion and rubbing it onto your skin.  Let it sit for 30 minutes or so before rinsing.  You can also use olive oil or coconut oil with coffee grounds to  create your own moisturizing body mask.

The results of using coffee for your skin care will surprise you with its effectiveness.  You can now get smoother, dimple free skin at home, all for the price of, well, a cup of coffee!
