Makeup tips for blue eyes

Eye Shadow:

Yellow is opposite of blue on the color wheel, which means that it is the most complimentary color for blue eyes. Now, this doesn't mean yellow eye shadow exactly, but gold eye shadow will look absolutely stunning with blue eyes. (*Note: Orange is actually the opposite color of blue on the color wheel, but orange is not exactly a color for your eyes. You might see how some soft salmon pinks and similar orangey-pink shades look, however.)

Other colors that are sure to make your eyes pop are taupe, bronze, and warm browns. Grey is great for evening drama. If you're looking to add some color, try different shades of purples. Violet is a gorgeous shade for blue eyes. Silver and turquoise can be fun if you're looking for flair.

If you want to try some blue accents, go with navy. Navy goes well with almost any shade of blue eyes, because a darker shade of blue than your eye color really brings out the color in your eyes. You don't want to match your eye shadow to your eye color because the color on your lids will overshadow your eye color. You don't want to match your eye shadow to what you are wearing either.

Now days many cosmetic companies have released special eye shadow palettes made specifically for your personal eye color. They range from inexpensive drug store brands such as Almay to pricier brands such as Sephora. They sell complimentary eyeliners and mascaras as well.

Eyeliner:

Girls with blue eyes are blessed to have such pretty peepers. The last thing you want to do is distract someone from the pretty color with raccoon eyes. Black eyeliner will draw attention to itself and itself only the only thing people are going to see when they look at you is black. Fair skinned girls should be particularly wary of black liner, as it washes out your complexion. If you insist on using a black liner, then at least draw the line thin, tapering off towards the inner corner of the eye so as not to make your eyes appear smaller. Remember, eyeliner is for highlighting your eyes but it shouldn't be the main attraction.

So what colors should you go for? Your best options are brown or bronze to make your blue eyes really pop. A dark brown will give just as much drama as a black eyeliner without stealing the show. You also have other options navy, grey, and purple eyeliners all compliment blue eyes much more than black eyeliner. If you have some green in your eyes, try a khaki green or experiment with emerald.

Mascara:

Black mascara is not nearly as damaging to your look as black eyeliner and so it's not considered a no-no. However, if you have lighter skin tones you may want to consider brown mascara.

Dark blue mascara can actually be very flattering as well. The subtle blue tones around the eye make your blue eyes stand out.

Blush:

As I mentioned previously, orange is blue's true opposite on the color wheel. Keep this in mind when choosing a blush. Corals, peaches, and dusty roses will do you well.

Lipstick:

Soft pinks will go best with blue eyes, especially if you are lighter skinned with cool undertones. Try peach, rose, or true red colors for darker skin with warm undertones. When choosing your red color, avoid purple-red colors such as mauve.

Now that you have some basics, get out there and see what looks best on you!

On occasion, I have been known to sleep in my mascara. Scary…I know. We all dread the morning raccoon eyes and hope that our partner isn’t looking as we scurry out of bed to wash the black off our eyes. Afterall, we don’t want them to see the scary eyed monster we became in the middle of the night! That would not be romantic! With all the advances in technology, is it possible that someone finally developed a mascara that does not smudge or flake, does not damage ou

Wouldn’t you love to go to a school reunion and have people marvel at how good you look? I was surprised at my 35th reunion, when I realized that all the women who looked really wonderful, in most cases, used cosmetics in high school. When you think about it, there could be a very simple reason. If you used color cosmetics in high school, you might also be more inclined to use skin care products in the coming years. I believe that is the real reason for looking great, well into your forties, fifties and beyond.
