Top 5 Skin Care Mistakes….Each Promotes Wrinkles!

As we age, every single one of us is plagued with an increased appearance of fine lines, nasty wrinkles, and that dry sagging skin. No matter how you look at it…..these lines and wrinkles cause us to look older than what we are and actually feel. The nice thing is….we have more control over the aging process than ever before. Read on and find out more about 5 of the top skin care mistakes we all have made or perhaps are now making.

Mistake 1: Not wearing sunscreen is a major mistake in this day and age.  It's been proven that ultraviolet radiation can cause skin damage any time you leave your house. Sun rays harm you by penetrating deep into the skin, damaging DNA, destroying collagen and depleting the outer skin layer of essential nutrients like Vitamin A. Over time, UV radiation results in wrinkles, skin discoloration, and aging spots, adding years to your appearance.

Solution 1: Sunscreens can be very beneficial to your skin, even beyond protecting you from the sun. They are known to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun, but they also can contain some rich moisturizing qualities that are great for your skin. The best sunscreens should be lightweight, non-pore clogging, and contain at least 6% Zinc Oxide. Find one you love and apply it several times a day. Your skin will love you for it!

Mistake 2: The regular use of harsh soaps and over scrubbing strips your skin of all its water and natural moisturizers creating a buildup of dead skin cells, leading to dry, flakey skin. Soaps work by stripping the body of oil and dirt, and some of the stronger ones leave your skin dry and itchy in the process. Among the endless number of cleansers on the market are some that are very harsh on your skin.

Solution 2: Dermatologists and other skin experts agree that the best way to cleanse our face and body is with a mild moisturizing cleanser and liquid body wash. Use of the old standard bar of soap should not even be in your cleansing routine. When using these mild cleansers and body washes, it's highly recommended to use lukewarm water, the hotter the water, the more possible damage to the skin. 

Mistake3: That bronze golden look from tanning beds is fertile ground for more wrinkles and dryer skin. There is a direct link of damage to our skin caused by the regular use of tanning beds or booths. There's no way around it, tanned skin is damaged skin and this leads to premature aging and the development of wrinkles, and eventually could result in various forms of skin cancer. 

Solution 3: Assuming you want to avoid wrinkled skin and premature aging, avoid tanning beds completely.  However, if you're going to use tanning beds, be wise in the way you do it. Be sure and use appropriate tanning lotions that protect your skin from the tanning rays. Also, tan for a modest amount of time on a more regular basis, rather than always going for the ultimate burn. 

Mistake 4: Do you take the time to read the small print on your products? Not being informed can add years to your appearance. Most skin problems can be solved by being aware of what ingredients make up the products you use. Due to new science and modern technologies, there are some very effective new products that can benefit your skin and your youthful appearance. Being lazy can affect your appearance and the youthfulness of your skin.  

Solution 4: Find and use products that utilize these new scientific discoveries. Some are actually changing the skin at the gene level by literally reversing the aging process. Once you find reputable products that do what they claim, set up a daily regimen and treat your face and skin to a new exhilarating experience.  

Mistake 5: Not cleansing your face before going to bed is a big mistake. Your makeup traps dirt and oil, holding it against the skin overnight and literally clogs your pores. Additionally, makeup can contain ingredients that irritate the skin over time and impede your skin's health and regeneration, which mostly takes place while you sleep.

Solution 5: At the end of each day, removing your makeup is the first step toward cleaning your skin, which is vital to maintaining a healthy complexion. After removing your makeup, be sure and follow your daily routine for cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your face and body with your favorite skin care products that work best for you.

Because youthful, healthy skin portrays confidence and beauty, each of us are concerned with what we assume is inevitable aging of the skin. The good news is….we have more control than ever over the rate at which our skin ages. As a result of new science we can literally turn back the clock on our skin. Even if we didn't properly care for our skin in years past, new science has enabled the generation of advanced ingredients that not only repair sun damaged skin, but literally reverses the aging process.
