A good, keyword-optimized article has the potential of bringing in thousands of viewers to your Website, or does it?
Article marketing has long been one of the most effective forms of free online marketing. Articles have a history of being loved by the Search Engines, as they provide free information to the viewer, while generating targeted traffic to our Websites. It’s important to remember that the main goal of any search engine is to provide the most accurate, helpful information to the viewer. When you’re searching the Internet for information on any given subject do you care what the keyword density of that article is? Chances are your answer is “no.†That’s why Google, and possibly other search engines, are beginning to use a new technology called “Latent Semantic Indexing†or “LSI.â€
In a nutshell LSI software can tell whether an article has been “keyword stuffed†or written naturally. However, that isn’t the main purpose of LSI, but rather a side effect.
Latent Semantic Indexing uses a unique form of keyword crawling to serve the most relevant page possible to the searcher. It finds related keywords and determines what keywords belong together, rather than looking at the frequency of any one keyword.
The main idea article marketers need to understand is that writing natural articles that are more “user-friendly†is beginning to pay off much more than in the past. Another thing to realize is that LSI is not fully implemented yet. This means that the technology will only grow, showing a greater effect as time goes on.
What does this mean to article marketers and all web page publishers for that matter?
To answer this question you need to think further than the present. Every article you write will remain on the Internet for many years into the future. In most cases these articles will not change. They will sit in article directories and elsewhere while search engine spiders crawl them over and over again.
What will happen to your articles that are “keyword-optimized†when LSI is fully implemented? They will go lower and lower in the search results and ultimately disappear.
Now is the time to start writing for the future. Writing ‘natural’ articles that are not “keyword-optimized†has already proven to be very effective. These articles will only rise in the SE’s as LSI continues to be implemented by Google and other top search engines.
