Blog your Business to Success

The Web 2.0 revolution has presented a number of new ways to market your products and services — few more effective than the simple blog.

Basically, a blog is an online journal that is updated regularly. A blog can be on any subject, and, since they are cheap to set up and run, it is not surprising that the net is cluttered with them. Setting up a blog is easy. Breaking through the mess of blogs already in existence is harder.

If you already have a business, you should certainly consider setting up a blog that is affiliated with your existing website.

You can write about your products, related industry news, voice opinions and even post video, audio and images. However, be sure that your blog isn’t just a glorified ad. Make sure your content is relevant, interesting and well written. If you can attract visitors who are genuinely interested in what you have to say, your blog marketing experiment will be successful.

One of the chief advantages of blogs is that they are interactive and allow readers to post comments in response to your articles. This allows you to gauge your customer’s opinions and perhaps improve your products or services to suit their needs.

Whether your business is online or offline, a blog can be a great way to spread the word and attract customers. If you own an offline shop, you could consider selling directly through your blog.

Even if you do not have a product to sell, blogging can be an excellent way to make some income. One method is to sell ad space on your blog. By far the most popular way is by using Google AdSense. Have advertisements related to your blog’s subject listed on the page and get paid for every time a user clicks on them. Of course, you will have to create a blog that is interesting enough to attract visitors to make this a success.

Another alternative is to sell affiliate products on your blog. Simply find a product that you like and believe in, and market it on your blog to receive commission for every sale made through your site.

If you are providing valuable information through a blog that is popular with readers, you can ask them to sponsor your blog or make donations. PayPal offers a link you can post on your blog which allows users to donate. Or, if you have a really successful blog, you could even approach companies and ask if they would be willing to sponsor you.

These are just some of the ways you can use a blog to market your product or service, establish your online brand and potentially establish alternative income streams through sponsorships and advertisements.
