How I Fight Back Against Content Theft

Posted: Dec 03, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Autoblogs are flooding the internet with duplicate content. Many wannabe entrepreneurs use software that steals content. I use the word steal because the vast majority of these wannabes take your article from article directories and then display your article minus the live author bio links.

Whenever I find myself looking at one of my articles on a website with broken bio links or no links at all within the article, i simply click on the words Ads by Google in the bottom right hand corner of a google ad.

  • Then I fill out the DMCA complaint form to notify google adsense.

Now, I have tried to contact several webmaster but they simply ignore me so now I just automatically click on the Ads by google button and they can worry about their google adsense account in the very near future.

My experiences tell me that Google does punish these sites when you help them out by bringing these spam sites to their attention.

I have seen many autoblogs punished and they just disappear from the search engines.

Yes I'm happy to waste 2 minutes of my time submitting the DMCA form.

Many of these spam blogs also have other forms of revenue, such as amazon.

You simply go to Amazon.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the join associates button.  That takes you to the amazon affiliate sign in page.  In the top right hand corner there is a feedback button for you to pass on your message about copyright infringement.

You will receive an email within 24 hours telling you that it has been forwarded to the appropriate department.  I can't tell you what action is taken by Amazon.com but the only time I contacted them, I didn't see any amazon products on a particular website the following week.

Don't let people just steal your content. If they want to use your content then fine. That is the reason you posted it in an article directory, for people to use your content on their websites and you get links back.

However, many people are stealing content and removing your live links. Report them!

Update: Today i received the following email from someone who was contacted by google.

I have received a notification from Google that you have filed a complaint in reference to the following URL: mystolencontentonhiswebsitedotcom

The issue was that the links in article were broken and did not redirect to the following URL: mywebsitedotcom

I have reviewed that particular post and have deleted it from the site. For some reason the HTML code was broken and not redirecting to the proper location.

I apologize for the broken link and assure you that it was a consequence of a broken link and not the intention of the site owner to be deceptive in any manner or take ownership of your article.

This next line was bolded for me: I have notified Google of the deletion of article in question and hope you will also inform them that this issue has been resolved.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this matter has created for you and I assure you that I am in full compliance with ArticleBase's TOS. Thank You,

Now all you people creating autoblogs, by all means, use articlesbase articles on your site if you're too lazy to write something yourself.  However, understand that if you "steal" the wrong content or have no respect for the content you have stolen then I will take action if it is my content.

**Footnote** I have found a finance article i posted on a very nice payday loan website. This isn't an auto blog, the person has obviously spent some money setting this up or has spent alot of time getting the site looking good and trust me, it does look very nice and professional.

And he "risks" it by posting articles from articlesbase minus my links? Genius!

What do you think he will be thinking when he sees an email from google waiting for him one morning.........he can't just ignore it.

All that money invested in your "online business", all that time wasted getting your site looking sexy, just to get caught stealing free content.

I'll be getting another email and i'll be thinking the same thing.....cry me a river.
