For anyone who has researched Wordpress, you may already know that there are 2 primary options available. These options are Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org. So then, which is the better option for you?
Let us take a look the difference between the two:
1) Wordpress.org:
This is a good option if you do not wish to host your blog yourself. Wordpress host your blog making this a great way to have a FREE blog without the expense of buying a domain name or paying a monthly fee for web hosting. If you want to be up and running with a Wordpress blog as quickly as possible and with minimum effort or expense then Wordpress.org would be your best option.
However, there are negative points. A Wordpress.org site is not really customizable and you cannot add your own affiliate banners to your site. This would make it a bad option if you plan to use your blog as a selling platform.

2) Wordpress.com: With this option you are required to purchase your own domain name and you will be required to pay a monthly web hosting fee with a hosting company of your choice. However, a basic .info domain name will cost you cents and monthly hosting will cost approximately $7.
It is not particularly expensive and by hosting your blog on your own domain in this way gives you much more flexibility.
A Wordpress.com site can be customized with custom made Wordpress templates and it can be as promotional as you would like it to be. You can also alter the layout of your blog and add some really cool features to help optimize and improve your blogs performance. Your options with a Wordpress.com site are far greater and more flexible than with a Wordpress.org site.
