Who Is Reading Your Blog?

Posted: Feb 25, 2010 |Comments: 0 |
Do you ever ask yourself who is reading your blog? You can tell who your readers are if they communicate with you. However, it is difficult to track those who don't connect with you online.   The most essential way to ensure the success of your blog is to interact with your readers. The best way to do that is through comments. Once you have your first comment, you can keep building from there. A good way to get the reader to comment is by asking a compelling question.   The different types of blog readers are explained below.   Readers: The readers found your blog and liked it but didn't comment on it. They may not have subscribed but they do visit when the topic is of interest to them.   Friends and family members: Those people are totally supportive of you and your business because of your personal connection. If they are not connected to you professionally, the reason that they are connected to you is most likely obligation.   Loyal fans: Those readers who initially found your blog and fell in love with it. They subscribe to it, comment on it, always follow you, and will always be there for you. Your loyal fans will always do their best to find new followers for you. The more followers you have, the more interesting the discussion.   There is a close relationship between you and those readers. If you want to establish a reader as a loyal fan, go to his or her blog and leave an insightful comment. The relationship that you build in that way will go very far.   Influencers: Influencers are also loyal fans with one little addition. They are influential people within your industry. When you write something profound that your loyal fans spread around, the influencers find it and want to continue to spread it. This is incentive for you to continue to post high-quality content.   The influenced: The influenced find you as a result of an influencer mentioning your blog post. They feel compelled to check you out. If an influential person mentions your posting, the influenced need to see what all of the fuss is about. It is human nature.   Watchers: Watchers can be your competition, your clients, or your prospective clients. It is always smart to check out what the competition is doing and to get a sense of who is reading their blog, based on the comments. The clients and prospective clients are satisfied that they can trust you.   Fly-by-night readers: These readers are looking for something. They find it, might read it, move on, and may possibly never return to your website.   Every person who reads your blog is one more person who pays attention to what you are offering. You really don't have any way of knowing who, among all of those people, will become loyal fans and eventually will become clients.   All bloggers are constantly looking to make some sort of positive difference and obtain new readers. The way to really make a difference is to share thought-provoking, helpful, and educational content. These are fundamental values. All of those values, which we learned as children, are being brought out and enhanced through blogging.   Successful blogs are made by readers, not writers. As a business, you exist to serve customers. Your readers are your customers in this case. Which types of readers do you have? Maybe you have a combination of several, which keeps things interesting and stimulating.
