Changing Planes - A Metaphysical Fiction Novella That Heals And Entertains

Posted: May 05, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but when I first looked at Changing Planes, I was totally intrigued. The midnight blue of the sky and the water are mirror images of each other and it makes you think of when you have two mirrors and reflect them back to each other so that you can see infinity in them. This book was like that. It gave me a glimpse of infinity, something I never believed possible.

I was very thankful that when the book came from Amazon, that it was a little book, a novella, if you will, because frankly, I just don't have the time to read 1000 page novels. I love them, but I get lost after the first few pages. Not so with Changing Planes. When I opened it up and started reading, I couldn't put it down.

Though it's my job to deal in words, I can't describe this book well enough to do it justice. It's better if you just read it yourself. I highly recommend that you do so. It's not expensive and it's the kind of book that you want to keep around, just to be able to give it to a friend. When I read it, it was like I was reading my own life, I identified with the main character that much.

This book needs to be read by millions, and preferably --- women, though from what I understand from the author's page, men have liked it too. But it's a woman's story through and through.

Madison Reeves, a young, ambitious VP of a high-end department store, is about to embark on the journey of a lifetime. She doesn't know it as she heads for the airport on a Caribbean vacation, yet something nags at her, deep in the recesses of her mind.

When Madison reaches the airport terminal, things begin to go awry, but not in a noticeable sense. After boarding the plane and taking off, the needled on the weird meter kick up a notch until Madison has to admit that something strange is indeed going on.

Madison can no longer deny that she left the ordinary world far behind as begins to see and hear things which her fellow travel companions don't even notice.

When she leaves the plane after it lands, she suddenly realizes that she has not arrived at her intended destination. Instead, she is greeted by her long deceased grandfather at the airplane's gate.

Madison's journey here forward is the adventure of all adventures, the look behind the curtain. You are compelled to read on to discover what she finds and what happens to her in the long run.

What happens to you as you read this story, is something just short of a miracle as you begin to see yourself in Madison and experience what she experiences. By the time you reach the end (which you don't want to happen), you are shocked clear out of your senses. You experience an ending that comes out of left field and truly takes you by surprise. It is here that you realize that all things are possible, not only for Madison, but for you as well.

Changing Planes not only made me laugh, it made me cry and gave me an opportunity to look into the mirror of my own soul.

An easy read, Laurie Brenner delights and entertains and keeps you turning the pages. It is appealing to the young and old alike and the spiritual lessons Madison undertakes are "powerful enough to make the story unforgettable," says author Sandra Carrington-Smith.

When I put the book down, I did not want it to end. Laurie Brenner is an authentic storyteller, a bard of old, who shares her story from the heart -- don't be fooled by its size, this little gem packs its weight in spiritual gold.
