Seven Pounds (2008) Film - A Heart-breaking movie

Seven Pounds is a 2008 movie, directed by Gabriele Muccino and stars Will Smith as Tim Thomas, Rosario Dawson as Emily Posa, Barry Pepper as Dan and Woody Harrelson as Ezra Turner.

According to the story, Tim Thomas is a man who decides out to change the lives of seven good people, since the day he caused a car crash in which seven people died two years before. A year after the crash, he quits his job as an aeronautical engineer and donates a lung lobe to his brother, Ben -- an IRS employee. After six months, Tim donates a part of his liver to Holly (Judyann Elder) -- a child services worker.

After these donations, he begins to search for people who need organ donations. Soon he donates a kidney to a junior hockey coach, George (Bill Smitrovitch) and then gives his bone marrow to a young boy -- Nicholas. Still Tim has to help three more persons according to his will, so he contacts Holly and asks if she knows anyone who deserves help. She immediately suggests Connie Tepos (Elpidia Carrillo) who lives with her insulting boyfriend. Soon Connie contacts Tim and he gives her the keys to his beach house, after being beaten up by her abusive boyfriend.

Soon, Tim meets Ezra Turner, a blind meat salesman who plays the piano and he is in desperate need of corneas in order to regain his eyesight. Tim decides to give his corneas to Ezra. Also Tim meets Emily Posa, a self-employed greeting card printer who is in need of a heart, since she has a week heart and a rare blood type. Before donating his corneas and his heart to the recipients, Ben interrupts for stealing his credentials. Can Tim make it up in donating his organs to the final two recipients?

By: Mike Nardine | 03/12/2009
You can almost taste the sulfur bubbling up from the fires and brimstone of Hell in this action thriller by Frank J. Roberts. It's 1968 again, God isn't dead, the Devil is tired of waiting, and the USSR and USA, locked in the Cold War, are searching for a paranormal path around the others' guard.

Lynn Austin

By: Melinda | 03/12/2009
A friend of mine introduced me to Lynn Austin about a year ago with "Eve's Daughters," and I have been devouring every other book of hers since then, when I have time. Her novels tend to involve the lives of women who cross paths and are forever changed because of it, or young women in search of something, yet find something opposite of what they were searching for. I love how she develops the characters almost instantly, and I am always drawn into the story in the first few pages.

Book Review Of Charleston Red by Sarah Galchus

By: Mike Nardine | 03/12/2009
Charleston Red. The book’s title might be a reference to the blood shed by the murderer in this mystery novel written by a local physician and set in modern-day Charleston, South Carolina; or it might only be referring to the bright flame colored drawing rooms of anti-bellum mansions in an older, fabled, Charleston. Or it might be both.

By: Mike Nardine | 03/12/2009
This small book accorded me one of the most pleasant reading experiences of the last year or so. And don't think I'm damning it with faint praise using the word "pleasant." I'm not; I really liked this book.
