True Crime Book

Posted: Feb 02, 2012 |

People around the world love to pick up a true crime book for some reason which is quite intriguing. They want to gander a quick look into the insane and criminal minds maybe because their world is so different from ours.  It is probably the dark side human beings are scared to explore. However, curiosity always gets the better of us and we like to take a quick glance and are eager to get more information on serial killers, hit men, mafia, murders, and brutality.  One such author who enjoys writing true crime and thriller suspense is Peter Andrew Sacco.

Sacco is a bit of an all rounder since apart from being an author, he's also a psychology professor and a former private practitioner. He's a columnist with over 500 articles to his credit in Canadian and USA media and magazines. When it comes to a true crime book, Sacco tells the story exactly the way it took place. Without any added frills, he's pretty straight forward and factual about a particular plot. Sacco's Jack or Jill takes you a spine thrilling journey of a serial killer who roams in the streets of Niagara Falls. The brutal killings cacophonously bear a resemblance to the 1888 Jack the Ripper Killing in London.

The murdered victims ironically are the same prostitutes. To get to the bottom of all this, Dr. Thaddues Michael Thomas, an ex criminal profiler turned professor is given the duty to unravel the case, despite opposition from senior ranking police officers. While reading this true crime book, a person may get a feeling of déjàvu. It makes one think, what if Jack the Ripper of 1888 was a woman? Is the 2007 Ripper a woman?   To get to the core of the proceedings, Thomas, with his two students and his past lover, needs to crack the case before any more killings take place.

Sacco has penned a similar book, In the Shadow, has all the brutality a person can think of. Pick any true crime book by Sacco, and he effortlessly shows how easily people who are productive members of society can turn into psychopaths and murderers, if sent over the edge by insanity or circumstances. A true crime, be it anywhere in the world is alarming, but with the help of these fabulous writers, the true ghost of mayhem and violence, psychology and science is raised up in literary art

Perhaps it is the fascination for paranormal phenomena, or it could be simply the ambiguity and romance that makes these popular. The flight of the imagination just seems to get better with every passing day.
