5 Great Ways to Build Your Company Brand Name

As the internet becomes larger and more populated, more websites become obsolete and seem to vanish from the masses, mainly as a result of not keeping up with trying to make your site more known.  Obviously, sites like JCPenney's, Macy's, Home Depot, and other big name companies (that have long since branded their names upon us) won't lose their popularity since they have branded their names over the years.  So, the question now is, are you branding your site?

For those of you that have recently started websites for your companies, and are just getting off the ground, the internet world can seem like such a huge place.  However, there are a few little tips that you can follow below, that will help you to launch your site popularity a bit more, and to help you brand your name a bit better as well.  Follow the tips below with your websites now, and you're sure to build some great progress over time.  Remember, after all, Rome wasn't built in a day, but with some hard work and time, your websites can stand as strong as Rome once did... and with continued work, your "Roman Empire" won't collapse off the digital internet world among us.  Here are a few tips that should help.

1.  Catchy Slogan or Phrase: I'm sure many of you have heard them on television ads, radio ads, and other places as well.  You've probably seen them on various websites as well.  And one of the key points of a website or business catching on, is a catchy slogan.  It doesn't have to be major at all.  For instance, like with Bounty, most remember it as "The Quicker Picker Upper", and Bounty has sold more rolls of paper towels than we can count.  Another catchy slogan is Allstate's "You're in Good Hands".  Another catchy slogan is "U Think.  U Feel.  U Wryte" for UWryte.com for those who wish to write about what they think or feel, or to submit articles or stories to share with others.  Most people may not even think of the slogan conciously, but it is one to remember as well.  A catchy slogan will have your customers remember your slogan and will have them come back, either with the slogan in mind, or even if they keyword search the slogan.  Just don't make it something major that will be hard to remember.  You don't want to have a slogan like "We'll come to your house to fix your A/C today" if you're an air conditioning repair service.  Something shorter like "Be Cool Today" will work.

2.  Brand Name Somewhere in Description or Title Tag of Your Website: While some people state that you waste space when you add your business name to either the title tag or description tag of your website, you'll want to make sure that at least one of your pages incorporates your business name somewhere in the title tag or description tag of your website.  Doing this will help people remember your site name as well the more they see it.  To see is to remember, and if you have your business name subconciously displayed several times in several places, you can consider this direct advertisement to build up your brand name.  Buliding your brand name is not something that will be done overnight, and actually takes a lot of time and patience on a daily or weekly basis to push your name forward.  With your name somewhere on a title tag or description tag, you're sure to have some people see the name and remember it for next time.


3.  Catchy Image or Large Bold Title on Your Page: I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that we all remember something of a graphic image or something bigger and bold to see.  When you think Google, you think of the colorful letters that spell Google as their image.  When you see Best Buy stores, you remember the yellow ticket icon with "Best Buy" inside of it.  When you see Target, the bullseye in red and white is the first image that comes to mind.  Make people remember your site, and make it stand out with your company name at the top header, along with a nice catchy image.  It doesn't have to be a major image at all.  Remember, simple is better, and sometimes that can go along way itself.  Wal-Mart's image is nothing more than the name of their company, but you remember the logo when you see it.  Nike uses a simple swoosh check mark for their tennis shoes or sneakers.  It's all about making it simple, but memorable.  Images that are incredibly busy don't get remembered as much as simple ones, unless you're a tattoo business or something related to the art field.  If you don't want an image, then you can do as Wal-Mart has done, and simply make the title of your company stand out in a unique font that's clear and legible, and let the rest write itself.

4.  Chat Forums: Not all chat forums work, but more than not do work, and creating rapport with people in a chat forum and simply adding a signature tag at the bottom of your post, if the chat forum allows, can create wonders as well.  Depending on the chat forums you use, some may be very flexible with your signature label, while others may be very tight and locked down until you reach several posts.  Depending on which may be your scenario, creating a brief signature with your company name, and a couple of keywords may help.  Sometimes, curiosity is its own reward, and you may find that simply putting the name of your website on the signature with no explanation as to what it is, generates more visitors than not.  You may not build targeted traffic as much unless you're in a forum geared towards your business, but word of mouth spreads, and where one may not benefit from your signature, they may know someone else that does.  Make it work for you, and chat or post often!

5.  Social Media Is a GodSend: If you're not familiar with what social media is, I'll mention a few words that will gear you in place:  Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Digg... need I proceed?  Social media sites are great tools that you can use to get your popularity going.  If you're just starting out of course, obviously, you wouldn't want to spam a bunch of people into checking out your site.  However, if you check out other people's sites, they're more than likely going to reciprocate.  You can slowly build a following or fanbase of people that will follow your site and updates, and over time, you can utilize these tools to build more visits and fan base.  Plus, people that are following you and may have forgotten what your site was at one point, will receive a refresher once you post up your site.  A little Twitter tip... every so often, when you post a random message or reply, simply add towards the end of your message, your website URL.  So, for example, if I work for a private tire company, I may reply to someone's chat or post a message like "It's nice out here... going to work on the car - www.ABCTires.com".  With that message, I'm treating it as a simple signature on my Twitter messages.  Don't do this for every single message, but an occasional few times in the day especially if you're a major Twitter user, may help generate more visits to the site, or help people remember your company name.

Hopefully, these few tips of information will help you to better brand your company name among the masses, and to also help build a bit of website traffic as well.  One other note, sometimes spending a bit of money (if you can of course) on things like Yellow Pages ads (unless you're strictly an online business) or Google Adwords can bring forth a bigger benefit than you know.  Knowing your budget for buying adspace and knowing where to find the adspace can be a benefit, and build up some more clientele in the process.  If you've found this article helpful, please Follow me on Twitter, and ReTweet this article to all of your followers as well.  Good luck with your business pursuits and name branding.
