Wang’s influence for her Spring 2008 collection is very definitely looking back to the past to ancient Greece and Rome. Her collection of looser fitting tops and dresses is very reminiscent of togas worn in those ancient days. Flowing and gorgeous, this is a figure flattering, romantic collection.

Wang’s color palette for Spring 2008 is a gorgeous array of earth and jewel tones. From brown to bronze to the cooler greens, purples and blues, her palette is artfully combined with steel blue and dark gray.

How Wang Combines Jewelry With Her Garments:
Leather Wrapped Bracelet – thin strips of brown knotted and wrapped leather. This bracelet is long enough to wrap multiple times around the wrist in a gladiator style. This artful arrangement of leather serves to accentuate the narrow part of every woman’s body. While being gladiator in style, it is fresh as it also a popular style worn by surfers. Completing the look is an extremely interesting closure reminiscent of the hardware on a horse saddle
Over-the-Top Paste Stones:
Following in the large paste stone trend, Vera Wang is showing big, big geometric-shaped colored paste stones both attached to the neckline of some of her garments and in necklace form.

These paste stones are huge, approximately the size of the thumb from tip to the knuckle. Arrangement of the paste stones placed as part of her garments is both asymmetrical coming over a shoulder on one side curving towards the front and in a circular or V formation at the top of the garment.

tiffany necklaces Styles:
Wrapped around the neck as a choker with a cascade of stones attached lying on the chest, bib-style.
Suspended from a simple chain with the paste stones dropping from just under the collar bone
Arranged in pectoral plate style filling in the front of the outfit.
Style tiffany bracelets Elements:
Scoop-neck tops with the paste stones arranged in a V formation completely filling in the expanse of skin exposed by the scoop neck.
Large jewelry of this nature is best shown on luxurious fabric with no surface design. Wang uses to good affect a monochromatic color scheme – showing green stones on green garments; blue stones on blue garments. Very elegant and eye appealing. Would one expect any less from Wang?
Simply Vera at Kohl’s
Vera Wang has a collection of clothes and jewelry retailed at Kohl’s. This collection includes none of the jaw dropping ready-to-wear attire or jewelry that is available at only upscale retailers. However, it is an excellent chance to own Vera Wang at an affordable price.

Short(s) Cuts: What Gap's Failures Teach the World About Business
By: Richard Laermer | 08/10/2008
I was watching an old TV show from last year –gosh, my TiVo has so much stored it could have been from two years ago– and found myself gawking at a super-colorful Sarah J Parker dancing and carousing to “I Just Love Being a Girl” in a really horrible ad for “The Gap” and its new line of pink khakis! It occurred to me this company has had more trouble in the last decade and that all businesses need to pay attention to the veteran retailer….so they don’t end up a joke like The Gap has become.
