Fishing for Customers

"Build it and they will come..," Believe it and it is true.  Makes for good reading or movie watching on a lazy Saturday afternoon and may even be the passion and romance behind a few business dream-come-trues.

Most successful business dreams start with detailed planning and strategic allocation of resources.  Shocking then, to find out how few businesses have a strategic plan in place to facilitate on-line digital marketing activities and campaigns.

Jumping head-first- or feet first for that matter- into any digital marketing campaign without firm guidelines in place and a well thought out plan to track the return on your investment is a bit like jumping off a high bridge into rollicking white-capped waves far below.  Sounds like fun.. but.. is actually  pretty dangerous.   And stupid.

Brand consultancy is core to any digital marketing plan and without it failure is imminent.   You may float a along for some time thinking that any exposure is good, any social media will introduce and reinforce your brand objective but ultimately, without tools to measure the actual impact of your swan dive into the media sea, your efforts will largely go unnoticed and certainly the tide of this ever changing, ever deepening and increasingly complicated domain can drown even the most passionate dream.

A simple acronym to guide your early digital strategic efforts is:  S.T.R.E.A.M.  Briefly, this stands for:

Strategy, Tactical, Routine, Expectations, Acceptable behavior, Metrics:   Tried and true methods to mapping out your plan to ease into- or- jump head-first into- digital marketing.   Brand consultancy will keep your marketing expeditions afloat.

Harnessing the multitude of opportunities that are now available is fairly overwhelming for the do-it-yourself-er. Brand Consultancy can mean the difference between having 20,000 ‘friends' on Face book who ‘hide' the brand from the daily feed to being the center of discussion as consumers review, recommend and influence others to try the products/services.

There are two kinds of advertising above the line (ATL) and below the line (BTL). Above the line advertising is one which involves commission such as radio, TV ads or newspapers and below the line advertising is print based such as flyers, direct mail, trade fair marketing or point of purchase ads. There is no commission for advertising agency in this kind of advertising. Now a day's above the line advertising is not preferred as much as below the line.
