Keys to Designing Your Vehicle Wraps!

Posted: May 11, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Ok, so you've chosen window decals and/or van wraps as your next form of advertising....now what?  You already have the vehicle or vehicles you're planning to wrap, and you're ready to go, but now you're realizing there are many pieces to the puzzle.

First, does your business have a branded logo and name?  If you have yet to establish an official name and/or logo, this is the time to do it.  Once you put your van wraps and window decals out on the road, you want your name and logo to stick in peoples' minds, which is also known as ‘branding.'  Think of large companies like UPS, with their brown trucks, brown suits and their brown and yellow shield logo.  Everyone recognizes a UPS truck, and that's exactly what you want to happen with your van wraps and window decals.

Second, consider your business or company colors.  Are they dull, or are they eye catching?  If your logo colors are dull, this may be a good time to consider creating a new logo.  Dull colors and a boring logo probably won't draw much attention via van wraps and window decals.  Not every van wrap needs to be neon pink and super flashy.  Just work with your graphic designer to create a logo with colors that will be interesting, aesthetically appealing and eye catching, no matter where you place your logo.

Third, what font are you using?  This font could be utilized in your logo, as well as any other text you'll be placing on your van wrap or window decals.  If the font is too small, no one will be able to read it from a distance.  If the font is difficult to read, you have just committed van wrap and window decal faux pas number one!  Passers by NEED to be able to read everything on your van wrap and window decals, otherwise, your advertising campaign will fail.

What information do you plan on including on your van wrap and window decal?  Obviously your company name/logo is the most important piece, but what else?  Your contact information is crucial.  If your business name is easy enough to remember, you may receive a good volume of inquiries when people return home and search for that name in Google.  If your business name is difficult to remember or if you didn't succeed in making your logo the most memorable image on your van wraps and window decals, then you must make sure you include other contact information for people.  This could be your website, your phone number, your email address, your Facebook fan page name, your Twitter name, etc.

Consult with your graphic designer on all aspects of your design, as he or she is the expert, but it's up to you to provide them with the base images, logos and content, so choose wisely!

The growing interest in vehicle wrap advertising and the positive mass response to car graphics has allowed the vehicle wrap industry to mature. What started with decals and stickers on cars and motorcycles has evolved to larger mobile media, like trucks and buses. Thus, if a business owner feels that simply wrapping a car with vinyl graphics is not blatant enough, he or she can bring his or her ads to the next level by getting into truck wrapping.

Vehicles are almost always visible, travel all over the place, and have a number of flat surfaces that can carry sales and marketing messages. There are two kinds of advertising above the line (ATL) and below the line (BTL). Above the line advertising is one which involves commission such as radio, TV ads or newspapers and below the line advertising is print based such as flyers, direct mail, trade fair marketing or point of purchase ads. There is no commission for advertising agency in this kind of advertising. Now a day's above the line advertising is not preferred as much as below the line.
