In 1957, Swiss SCHLUP Company,formerly a professional watch core supplier, first launched its watch products with RADO as its brand.

Five years later, RADO Watch unveiled the first wearable watch----DIASTAR, who instantly conquerred the market with its elliptic shape design and its innovative high-tech metal materials.

From then on, RADO began its success path by means of integrating special materials and graceful designs.

All its accomplishments originate from Mr. MARC LEDERRY''s innovation,chief of the designers.

Last 60s' fashions were gold and steel watches,though they were beautiful when new, trace of wearing would show several days later, and the watches then would need polishing.

Mr. MARC LEDERRY noticed that the hard metal compound with tungsten and titanium and carbide (at that time used in toolmaking and high-tech fieds), has very high wear resistance, so he advised applying this high-tech hard metal in watch manufature.And his suggestion was supported by RADO Watch's President PAUL LUTHI, under which the first wearable watch was born.

This is the legend of RADO Watch DIASTAR, and to date, RADO is still the most popular among watch collections.

After ten years' research and development, RADO invented more and more wearable materials and applied them to watchmaking business. It never stopped challenging itself to a higher level, and it continuously made accomplishments, from high-tech hard metal to high-tech ceramic, from sapphire crystal to high-tech lanthanum metal and further to high-tech diamond whose hardness is up to 10,000 Wels.
