Restroom Mirrors for Advertising?

Posted: Aug 31, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Most of us have seen vehicle wraps or fleet graphics on the highway before, because the eye catching graphics have caught our attention and have been stamped in our memories.  Most of us, however, probably don't think about using those same types of graphics as window decals for similar advertising purposes.  Window decals can be used in hundreds of different ways, in both vehicle windows and building windows.  As with vehicle wraps, window decals are a very cost effective and affordable method of advertising.  Window decals don't have to be limited to your logo, company name and contact information, however.

Landlords could benefit greatly by placing decals on their rental apartment/homes/commercial unit windows.  We're all so used to seeing traditional ‘For Rent' signs all around town, so imagine passing by a building and seeing a colorful, impressive ‘For Rent' window decal.  Just providing the same information (number of bedrooms, square footage, and contact information) in a more appealing way may be all you need.  Take it several steps further, however, by adding a large image, showing the inside of your rental unit.  For apartments, show images of the apartments' best features, such as the kitchen, for commercial spaces, show images that highlight the size of the space.  Typically, potential renters have to judge a building by its appearance on the outside as they drive by, so they may get the wrong impression of your unit, or they may not be intrigued enough to contact you for more information.  By providing images in the window, potential renters will be drawn in by very little effort (and money!) from you.

Don't forget the visibility power of a public restroom mirror either. Poster boards in restrooms probably won't get as much notice as a mirror that is directly above a sink.  People spend several minutes looking into a mirror, so utilize those mirrors (with permission of course) to advertise for your business.  Target the restrooms that see the most traffic first, and work your way down, depending on where you receive permission.  You may have to pay for the temporary advertising space on say, a mall food court restroom, but that cost, plus the cost of a small, mirror sized window decal will cost a fraction of what a television ad will cost.  Say you own a store that sells natural cosmetics in your local mall.  If you can't get permission to advertise via mall restroom mirrors, look into department store restroom mirrors, or even department store fitting room mirrors.  If you look around, you'll find multiple mirrors in virtually every store in a mall, and many of them may be willing to allow advertising if you pay for the space or offer a trade.

There are two kinds of advertising above the line (ATL) and below the line (BTL). Above the line advertising is one which involves commission such as radio, TV ads or newspapers and below the line advertising is print based such as flyers, direct mail, trade fair marketing or point of purchase ads. There is no commission for advertising agency in this kind of advertising. Now a day's above the line advertising is not preferred as much as below the line.
