Are You fearful to spend on Your Business?

Jesse had a dream.

But not very much was occuring in the way of revenue generation and she knew that she was going to do something - and fast! She only put enough money away for 6 months of living without revenue from her new enterprise. So she started looking around at options that would help her meet more folks and generate potential customers.
Her excitement turned to be afraid of when she examined the membership fee. The 400 dollar a year fee wasn't in her budget. In fact, nothing much had been placed in her business start up budget in any way. She had already blown thru the money she thought she would need, spending it all on a site.

Jesse made a critical mistake that too many SOHO owners make by not having a clear picture of inevitable expenses that come together with running a successful SOHO. So here she was, faced with a big dilemma. She wanted to make more money, but she was afraid to spend by joining the networking group that might help her meet those potential clients she so needed. Uh oh. This occurs all over the world, each day. So if you are wrestling to spend money on your own business, it's time to ask yourself some important questions.

1. What's behind the fear? Is there a deeper issue to hand, for example a fear that the investment will be lost because of a firm lack of belief in your capability to be successful as a business owner? If this is the case, you have to either let go of the sentiments that are holding you back - or you will surely be letting go of your business whether you propose to or not. These limiting sentiments are business bankruptors and you need to get fair with yourself as to what they are and then make them part of your past.

2. What's the price of not making the investment? Calculate a fair potential investment return for the item you are thinking about and compare it to the'expense.' as an example : if Jesse had enlisted 4 new clients as a result of joining this networking group, she would have made $12,000 - what an ROI for a mere $400 investment!

3. Spend some time taking a look at common business costs and work out a budget. Consider promoting as a first area - especially if your business is in its infancy.
So many people have so much on the line right now. They are desperately attempting to avoid a return to corporate America and attempting to make their business work, but they are going about it without a practical view of what is needed to succeed. If you're in this position I beg you to take an honest, hard look at what's happening in your business - and if you have the principles to support your long-term success. If not, you need to do something about it immediately or else you could finish up like Jesse, whose fear came true - she is's back working for someone else, struggling through each day and having a look at her business with hindsight, wishing she had been more realistic about what all was concerned in being successful. In today's highly competitive marketplace, consumers can choose from any number of competing sellers in order to get what they want. When you and your competitors offer the same quality product and rely on low prices, loss leaders, and special incentives to make the sale, the product becomes a mere commodity and price is all that matters. But, when you shift your focus away from the sale and toward the consumer experience, you change the playing field.
