There is a lot of information out there on what you can do to get back your ex. If you're reading this you've probably been to a few of them already. These guides attempt to solve as many different situations as possible you may be in. The truth is every situation is different and the best those guides and other sources can do is guess what your situation is and try to help you solve it by getting your ex back in your life. There's a couple of basic things their advice has in common. These are excellent starting points from where you can alter the path to do the right steps to get back your ex.

One thing they have in common is a break from your ex. This separation is sometimes called the "cool down period". It's purpose is so that both you and your ex can clear your head. This is sound advice and should be followed. Fools rush in and doing so too soon can ruin your chances of getting back together or even undo any work you've done so far. You generally want to take a break from your ex of about one month minimum, more if you think it will help you in the long run.

Another thing they share is a heartfelt apology. Without one of these the relationship can not really move forward. The air must be cleared and whatever wrongs forgiven before the both of you can truly move on and put the past behind you. There are many different reasons why you should apologize and understanding them will help you out as well, the major point here is that you NEED to apologize at some point. It's so important to the process it can be a relationship maker or breaker.

There are others out there but they are not as vital or important as these two. Keep in mind this is a process and something you can't rush, nor should you want to. Your ex will need the same amount of time you need to sort things about and think things through just as you have done before deciding you were going to take action and get them back.
