If you've just broken up it's very likely you've tried something that didn't work as you expected before finding this article and came here looking for some advice. None of these are things that are rocket science, but little by little, and used in concert with each other will greatly increase your chances on getting you ex back.
The biggest one is that dreaded "space". Both of you need some time apart for awhile, especially if the breakup happened just after a blowout or big fight. You need this time to think about where you stand and so does your ex boyfriend or girlfriend. You will not be ready, nor very successful, in getting them back if you try immediately after a bad fight. It's very likely you will fight again, be pushed further apart, or even cause something that will end the relationship for good. So, for these reasons, you both need space so you can clear your heads.
Think back in your head about how you got to this point. Was this sudden? Was it a long time coming? Is there anything you could have done early on to stop from getting to this point? At first you may think there is no other way this could have ended, until you really give it some deep thought. Every relationship is unique, so what you may find will be different than what someone else will find. Once you can spot that moment things diverted what can you do?
Work to change it. If this has escalated so much it caused the breakup it's very likely, left unchecked, it will do it again when you and your ex are back together. This part takes a lot of work, both for you and your ex, who may not be convinced you've corrected the kink in what seemed to be a strong relationship.
