Mending a Broken Relationship – The 5 Critical Keys to Restoring a Failing Romantic Relationship

Posted: Nov 15, 2010 |Comments: 0 | Views: 173 |

Mending a broken relationship is one of the toughest obstacles a husband and wife can face.  That's because at the point in time where a union or marriage has broken down, it looks as if it's too late.  Couples frequently give up at this point assuming that there is no way their partnership can be spared.  That is the time cut the ties and the union comes to an end.

Here's the catch though.  Whenever there is real love involved, care and respect for each other, and  a want in each mate to try and make amends, mending a broken relationship absolutely is possible.  You just need to know how to achieve that goal.

Here are the 5 major factors that need to be addressed in mending a broken relationship:

Effort – a bigger volume of effort will be required to mend your relationship in comparison with what you both gave when you and your significant other, or lover first got together.  As an example, remember back to when you and your spouse first got together.  How much effort was required when the two of you just began as mates?  You were in love and your partner could not be more ideal.

Nowadays, all those adorable little habits that used to be so endearing at first are hard to put up with.  And the topics that carried your relationship to the edge are difficult to move beyond.  Realize, you were already on the edge of calling it quits and setting yourself up for that result.  It will take extra effort on the part of each party to not take that next step that would produce that outcome.

Communication – a commitment to maintaining an open line of communication is a requirement in mending a broken relationship.  This may mean opening up more about more items than you're use to.  This suggests calling your partner, boyfriend, or girlfriend at assorted times during the day merely to interact with them.  Let them know how your day is going.  Inquire how their day is going.  Discuss what happened while you were at work.  Talk more openly about what you are thinking.  Is an indication to your lover that you care about them enough to involve them in what is occurring in assorted parts of your life.
It is necessary to keep in mind that keeping open lines of communication does not entail hashing the same issues over and over again.  Though it's true the struggles the both of you are going through should be talked about, they should not be on the catalog of conversations each night.  Pursuing that route will merely bring about the desire to fix a failing relationship to disappear.

Respect – let me ask you a question, "how much care and love are you willing to present someone who doesn't respect you?"  Now think about your partner or spouse?  How much love and care do you feel they would give you if you do not respect them?  It is a natural human desire to want to be respected and appreciated.  Without it, no relationship could ever be expected to last…much less saved.

Self growth – here's where the rubber meets the road.  This essential point is one of the most important regarding your success in mending a broken relationship.

No one is perfect.  The minute we feel we are or even if we believe we are too old or do not have to change…well, quite truthfully that's when we squandered the reason for life.  Life is about learning and growing til we are the best we can possibly be.  And though we most likely are better today than we were yesterday, we can still continue to improve.  Commit to yourself, because you can only answer to you and for you, to endeavor to grow, change, and improve to be a better person.  That may correspond the way you treat or talk to others.  It could entail your ability to let another person in emotionally or quite possibly even letting go and not being so needy or insecure.  It could also involve improving on your physique.  (That on its own is guaranteed to make good changes in a variety of ways.)   There are multiple of ways we can improve on ourselves that will help save a relationship.

Patience – Have you heard any of these quotes?

•    "Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - that is patience."
•    "The two most powerful warriors are patience and time."
•    "He that can have patience, can have what he will"
•    "Patience and fortitude conquer all things"
•    "All good things come to he who waits"

You probably all ready know, being impatience is one of the most arduous traits to conquer.  However as you can ascertain from these quotes, there is one underlying theme regarding the quality of patience as well.  That is that there is great benefit for those who are patient.
In your attempt to mend a failing relationship, patience will go a long way to creating a positive outcome.  The changes you and your lover are making will call for time and effort.  Be patient with the time it obligates and the efforts you and your mate are making and you will find success in your attempt in mending a broken relationship.
