3 Successful SEO Rules to Rank in Search Engines

Successful SEO can be narrowed down to three simple rules. Follow them and you will rank quickly online. Ignore them and you will be where you are as long as you are in business. The online business of search engine optimization follows many of the same guidelines you see in traditional business marketing. You will be most successful if you do not try to be all things to all people. Your customers and prospects need to know who you are, and you must be able to prove that you can provide the service or product you are offering. Online marketing and successful SEO follow the same general rules.

Your website is not all things to all people.

Search engines serve their customers, who is primarily the consumer searching for information. The product of in which the search engines are delivering is a search results page. That is information, requested by the search consumer, and delivered in the form of the most relevant information on the topic of search. The search engines deliver the most relevant pages, associated with the given search.

If your website is too general in scope, it will never be served in search results pages. For successful SEO, each page of your website must be as relevant as possible to a specific topic.

The search engines need to know who you are.

"If you build it, they will come," does not apply in online marketing and SEO. You can build a beautiful home in the city, surrounded by many people. You could set everything up, ready to hold a party, but if you do not go introduce yourself or send out invitations, how many people do you believe would be at the party?

Online businesses, which rank in search engines, rely on appropriate positioning for search engine optimization. Search engine spiders read metadata, but they also read copy. Make sure your website communicates with the online consumer and the search engines on the same level. In the case of successful SEO, you need to provide the same positioning to the search engine spiders as you do to your target market and the online consumer.

Ask others to refer your business to Google, Yahoo and Bing.

As in business, referrals are key to higher margins and profit. Search engines see referrals of your site address as one of the primary factors for ranking within the first page of search results.

Successful SEO depends upon referrals of other websites, in the form of links back to your website. Those links drive traffic and are also positioned as third party referrals in the eyes of your targeted potential customer and online consumer.

Consumers are more likely to listen to each other, than they are to listen to you.. They trust each other. When one consumer sees a referral of another online consumer, they respond. Hopefully, consumers will soon be speaking with each other about your products and services online. When they do, they will refer your website, in the form of links placed in social media, comments on blogs, in forums, etc.

But what do you do to get the conversation started? Begin the process of asking for referrals. You need links pointing back to your site. Search engines look at the number of links associated with your site, in relevance to your specific product or service. When others refer you, you are proving site relevance, increasing links and increasing site traffic levels; all of which make up SEO algorithms for ranking within the first page of search results.

The most powerful ways to begin the link building and referral process is to launch a successful SEO strategy, which includes video SEO, social media marketing, article marketing, blog marketing, and manual link building campaigns. Build a successful SEO strategy, and you will soon be on the road to higher search engine ranking, link referrals, and successful online business.
