Before starting my first home based business I found myself in the familiar place many people end up -having too much month after the end of the money. According to CNNMoney.com, the unemployment rate could reach 9% by 2010! To insure myself from being one of the over 27 million potentially unemployed, I chose the only viable option for me and my family. To start my very own home based business.

Yes, working from home can be a double edged sword. I love the freedom of a flexible home schedule but it also means I have to be diligent when it comes to managing my time and working efficiently. With that said here are 3 reasons why you should say yes to starting a home business and no to working for someone else.

1. Freedom. The greatest benefit to starting my home based business has been the freedom and flexibility to be independent. How many people can say that they are free from the ball and chain that is their desk? Not many. Now, I do not have to exert effort trying to deal with rigid work schedules and annoying alarm clocks. That alone should be worth its weight in gold, because it gave me back control over my own life. I noticed the stress started to roll off of my shoulders. My family also noticed an improvement in my attitude and outlook for our financial future.

2. Huge Profits. The financial rewards of having your own home based business should not be overlooked. Your earning potential is directly proportional to the amount of work you put in. You should notice a dramatic change since you no longer have an overbearing boss that may or may not give you the raise that you have deserved and earned. This equates to you unlocking the unlimited earning potential that most never get too. Bottom line this means more money in your pocket for you and your family to do what you want to do when you want to do it.

3. Minimal Investment. A common concern is the cost of resources needed to get your business off the ground and up and running. These are just a few of the reasons why I chose to take action to start my home based business. The security that comes from knowing that my family is provided for without me having to run the "rat race" is immeasurable. The important thing to remember is that your home based business will not happen by merely thinking about it.
