A Necessary Precaution: The Automatic Fire Extinguisher

There are different tools needed for specific fire-dousing situations. For instance, fire blankets and water fire extinguishers are used for simple fires such as minor domestic ignitions; when flammable liquids are involved, a foam fire extinguisher works best; if electricity is the cause of a fire on the other hand, a CO2 fire extinguisher is the most ideal fire-fighting equipment to use. Likewise, for special cases such as rooms with small spaces or rooms that are prone to elevating temperatures, there is also a specific kind of fire extinguisher fit for them. Unlike the aforementioned kinds, this particular type is more of a precautionary measure and an emergency reactor rather than a manual point-and-shoot fire deterrent. It’s called an automatic fire extinguisher.

As the name implies, this device can operate with very minimal human intervention. When things like sprinklers just won’t do the job right, this particular type becomes the ideal. Similar to smoke detectors and automatic fire alarms, this extinguisher has a sensor that monitors the temperature inside the room and activates when it indentifies a supposed emergency fire situation. The heat-sensitive bulb of the device remains vigilant of any abnormal temperature changes. And when such environmental abnormalities do occur, the bulb breaks and the device automatically releases substances to extinguish any possible or present fire.

There are two kinds of substances that an automatic fire extinguisher may release. Depending on the type, it may use gas or powder. The gas variety is ideal for smothering fires using a system called oxygen displacement. This process deprives fires of oxygen—the main element which makes a fire burn—and it does this without leaving any kind of residue or harming the ozone layer in any way. However, once the fire has been put out using the FE36 gas, it is recommended to completely ventilate any area that has been treated with the gas.

Compared to the gas type which can only put out fire in a more constrained area, the powder type automatic fire extinguisher is ideal for covering a wider range. Consecutively, it is a more economical alternative to the gas type extinguisher. Usually, people who are looking for practical and cost-efficient ways to keep their establishments safe from fire opt to have this type in their work places for good but affordable security.

This special kind of fire extinguisher is a great tool for people who want to have a less complicated fire extinguisher in their place. It is simpler and much easier to operate compared to the more conventional fire extinguishers that we have been accustomed to. So if you are looking for ways to prevent fire-driven mishaps from occurring in temperature-sensitive rooms, affixing an automatic fire extinguisher will at least help make you feel more secure about the safety of your place. At times and situations where fire alarms and smoke detectors are not enough to save your space from burning to crisps when emergencies strike, nothing else is definitely better than having your own partner in keeping fire hazards at bay.

Secondly, the local fire station definitely needs to be informed as soon as possible in case professional help is needed for break-in and rescue operations.
