Becoming a Freelance Writer

The freelance writer in home business requires you to have writing skills, good English, and the ability to write about different topics. You may like what you have written but the buyer may not which means you have to be willing to do rewrites. You must present your own works, copying is plagiarism, which is illegal. You need to write articles that are published so the buyers can check out your writing style in order to obtain writing positions that pay.

You should beware of the buyers who ask you to write a few articles for them before they hire you not accepting your work and you end up not getting paid but find your work published under someone else's name. A buyer may ask you to email them and make a deal away from the hiring company, give you a fantastic opportunity to work for them, later you find that you did a lot of hard work with no pay. I found the best way to work is to be a part of a company that finds buyers, lets you bid on the projects, and if you are accepted, the company then collects the money and puts it into an escrow account. You are protected while you are doing your writing since your money is held in escrow. The buyer is protected because he can proof what you are writing making any corrections necessary. The both of you are happy with this arrangement since you have a reliable middle person to keep everything honest. When your work is what the buyer is looking for they may make you an offer to work for them on a project that can last from three months to a year. This is great for any freelance writer who does this type of work for a living on a continuous basis to be able to work for just one buyer. When you finish the project then you can always return to your hiring company and bid on new assignments.

You need to write sincere, have talent, and know your English grammar in order to work as a freelance writer but the capability of translating your works into a foreign language often pays a higher rate. You should do research work to find companies that will provide you the opportunity to bid on projects, build up your portfolio, and offer you writing support. There are companies that will let you write what you want and help your materials to get published. You will not earn much from these companies just a small amount of royalties but you are building a better portfolio for yourself and if your articles are good enough they are placed on the Search Engine for everyone to see. This is one of the best methods for a buyer to select a writer for their projects. Freelance writing is a very lucrative and interesting occupation for the right person.

If you find the right clients, you can have a full-time income in no time. Remember, write well and do what you would want people to do for you. If you can follow these simple rules, you can have a long and healthy career.

Another way not mentioned here to help build your reputation is to have your few initial clients testify about their good experiences with your work. There are many ways to do it, let them write comments on your website, prepare \"success stories\" telling the story and accomplishments or have them vote for you in Trust-index to get a plain 5.
