Bill Bartmann Compares Self Image and Self Esteem

Who is Bill Bartmann? Bill Bartmann is a self-made billionaire who has had his share of ups and downs in his life. He was homeless at the age of 14, a gang member, a teenage alcoholic, injured and paralyzed at the age of 17 and told he would never walk again.

Five months later, Bill Bartmann walked out of the hospital! He earned his high-school equivalency, attended college, graduated from law school, became a billionaire, went bankrupt, then did it all over again, including a second bankruptcy!

Bill Bartmann is back! He is very successful today because he did not let the events of his life get him down. Well, he may have had moments of feeling down; he wouldn’t be human if he didn’t. Let’s just say he didn’t let it keep him down.

Bill Bartmann Defines Self-Image

According to Bill Bartmann, your self-image has a lot to do with how well you meet life’s challenges. Self image is how you see yourself, both physically and as a person. Your self image includes:

• Physical Looks: What you think you like
• Personality: How you see your personality and the kind of person you think you are
• Social Status: How much you value yourself and how important you feel

Your self image is defined by how you think others see you and what you believe others think of you; how much you like yourself and whether you think others like you.

Perhaps you have read Bill Bartmann’s articles on self-esteem. Self esteem is how you feel about yourself; self image is about how you see yourself and how you feel others see you. They are very closely related; if you have a poor self image, you will suffer from low self esteem.

Your Self Image Affects your Relationships with Others

How you see yourself is vital to your behavior and how you relate to others. People respond to you according to your communication skills and how confident you appear. Your self-confidence is greatly affected by your self-image and your self-esteem.

How you see yourself is often different from how others see you. Your self image is shaped by your own thoughts and opinions. If you have a negative view of yourself, you are probably very hard on yourself. If you are highly self-critical and always putting yourself down, then others will also have a negative view of you. If you are self-confident and happy with yourself, then others will see you in a more positive light.

Building Your Self Image

Improving your self image will increase your self esteem and self confidence. Improving your self confidence, both at work and socially, will improve your relationships with others. There are several things you can do to improve your self image.

• Make a list of the thing you like about yourself, including physical characteristics and your personality
• List your skills and talents; strengths
• Focus on positive thoughts, strengths rather than weaknesses
• List compliments you have received; be aware when someone pays you a compliment. Remember to compliment others
• Accept what you cannot change and improve what you can change
• Question your view of yourself; do you think this is how others see you?
• Exercise and eat right; being healthy feels good
• Lighten up! No one is perfect
• Accept criticism and ask yourself how you can improve

Do not limit yourself just by how you see yourself. Don’t allow your weaknesses to get you down; everyone has weaknesses. You don’t have to be controlled by what you do not have; focus on what you do have. Don’t fret about what you are not good at; focus on your talents and what you can offer to and share with others. How you act affects how others respond to you; this helps improve your attitude toward yourself and your abilities.

Bill Bartmann says you are only limited by your efforts and your self-confidence. Believe in your self and you will grow as a person and be successful. Learn more about Bill Bartmann at http://www.billionaireu.com
