Business Coaching Helped Baby Angel Thrive

Some women who did it all before giving birth think they'll be fine after they give birth. They've never experienced problems before, after all. What could go wrong?

As many new mothers soon found out, lots. Turns out, transitioning to motherhood isn't as easy as they thought it would be.

Rebecca Cass, a nurse experienced in pediatric, neonatal and obstetric care, formed Baby Angel in March 2007. Rebecca saw a real need for a service that provided all the extra care and support missing for new parents when they were sent home within days, or often hours, after delivery. Being a mum herself, Rebecca knew what it was like to go home exhausted with all the responsibilities of a new baby. She also understood how valuable a meal or help with the housework was in those important early days at home.

Since 2007, Baby Angel has helped a great number of parents with those first few weeks, whether it be teaching new mums and dads how to settle and understand their babies, regular daily home help, or delivering fresh family food parcels. It was a great idea, and it quickly caught on as more and more new mothers realized they couldn?t do it all.

But when she first started the business, Cass had trouble grasping her vision and getting things up and running. That?s when she decided to hire Gaylene Hughes, an ActionCOACH Business Coach, to help her really get her start-up started. Cash flow was an issue, and she didn?t think she had enough time to work on her business.

?Gaylene was recommended to me by my accountant, a client of Gaylene?s,? Cass said. ?Gaylene has assisted me with rolling out stage one of my strategic vision for Baby Angel. She has assisted in translating my constant flow of entrepreneurial visions into a methodical business model that is sustainable, profitable and replicable in other markets.?

So far, this model has facilitated and managed explosive growth, and that?s due in part to what Hughes has set up for Cass. ?Rebecca?s been focusing on the back-end of her operation and completing ?Operation Hands-Off,? where she?s removing herself from the day to day operation of the business,? Hughes said. ?She was running around like a mad thing and not being able to focus on the business as well as her family. She was a bottleneck, especially as the business grew.?

But once Hughes started coaching Cass consistently, improvements started to show through.

"Rebecca has been absolutely fantastic. She has a real vision for the potential of this business. She's meant to be doing this," Hughes said. ?She is very driven and possesses great business acumen which is great for me. She soaks up anything and everything I throw at her and seeks out advice proactively from her other networks.?
