Most people have favorites. You may like Ford over GM, Pepsi over Coke, country over rock or any number of choices but what about your power tools? There are the four or five main brands plus many smaller lines available. What make you favorite tool manufacturer your favorite.
If you have a specific trade you are involved with, you may have found a line that has proven perfect for your trade in cost, durability and power. While I feel those probably are the main reasons for anyone to choose a tool, think about variety offered by a tool line. Consider for one the 18 Volt Makita Cordless line.
I was amazed when I took a close look at the 18 Volt Makita Cordless tool line up. By far the most common Makita 18 Volt tool is the 18 volt drills, especially the lithium line. Makita has led the way on the lithium front, some of the other players are just starting to come out with lithium tools. But the 18 Volt Makita line really offers much more than drills.
Did you know there is such a thing as a cordless rebar cutter? Makita offers an 18 Volt rebar cutter that can cut a piece of rebar quickly and easily. Now, I know, not many of you want or need a rebar cutter, but for the contractor who does, buying into the Makita line makes sense.
When DeWalt came out with a charger radio for their cordless tool line, they sold lots and lots of power tools. Not just because they have a good line, but they were the only ones with a radio charger. I can tell you from experience, it was very difficult to switch a guy from DeWalt to any line if they didn't have a charger radio. Then as more time went buy, when they needed tools, the obvious choice was to stay with what they had so they could interchange batteries and use their radio. Well, rest assured, Makita has a charger radio.
The 18 Volt Makita Cordless line also includes a variety of impact drivers. You can get them in Nicad, NIMH or lithium versions. But in addition to that they have them with the standard ¼" hex drive or the square drive for use with standard sockets so the tool becomes more useful in an automotive application.
Makita has also done a good job of making combo kits that include some of the more standard tools mixed with some of tools that you may use less often but still are nice to have without having to buy another kit and doubling up on chargers and batteries.
The 18 Volt Makita cordless line also contains tools like metal cutting saws, recip saws, jig saws, florescent lights, leaf blowers, cut off tools, lithium screwdrivers and more.
So, if you like cordless tools, and you like versatility, next time you are looking check out the 18 Volt Makita Cordless line of tools for a truly wide range of cordless tools.
