Akiles has been widely known for their high quality and durable binding machines and their CoilMac Series is no different. There are three CoilMacs available: CoilMac M, which is a manual punch and manual bind machine, the CoilMac ECI, which is a manual punch and electric bind machine, and the CoilMac ECI, which is an electric punch and electric bind machine. All of these units are also available in either the standard model, or a new PLUS version, which has features to make coil inserting much less time consuming. In this article we will review the benefits and limitations associated with each machine in order to help you make an educated decision as to whether one of these plastic coil spiral binding machines is right for your specific needs.

CoilMac M: The Akiles CoilMac-M Spiral Binding Machine offers efficiency and productivity & features 53 punching pins, 5 of them being disengageable. These disengagement pins allow for more divers punching capabilities, allowing you to punch and bind sheet sizes other than letter size without ending up with half of a hold on the end of your paper by simply pulling the pin out. Margin depth control lets you choose how deep you want your holes set, letting you control the look and tear resistance capabilities. Side margin control lets you decide how to center your holes. A diameter guide, also known as a coil selector, is included and helps you determine the size of coil that is necessary based on the thickness of your book. It can punch a maximum of 17 sheets at a time, and bind a total of up to 210 sheets total (20# paper). An open punching throat allows for punching and binding of documents wider than the 13" punching edge by simply punching your sheets, flipping them over, and punching them again.

While the CoilMac M is a manual binding machine, it features a convenient inserting table that allows you to place your book down and manually roll the coil in using the dip as a guide for the coil. Those who have tried inserting using two hands without a table know it slows down production surprisingly. Hand cutter crimper pliers are included to finish the bind process.

The oval holes offer much easier inserting, which can actually increase production by up to 50%. The Plus Model also features complete 53 disengageable pins for optimum custom books size results.

Because of the high quality components and full range of functions, the Akiles CoilMac M is the most complete and durable manual spiral binding machine in its class. It measures 13" x 17.5" x 18" and weighs about 35 pounds. It comes standard with a one year manufacturer's warranty. The CoilMac M is perfect for home and personal use, as well as small offices.

CoilMac ECI: The Akiles CoilMac-ECI Spiral Binding Machine offers a full system of convenient functions with an electric coil inserter.
