Credit Card Processing

Credit Card Processing is a must in any business, as today most people prefer to use their plastic to carrying cash. There is a host of Merchant Services available today for accepting the credit card payments. What is needed is a simple and safe solution for a company to call regarding credit card acceptance. Businesses look for everything, from the merchant account through equipment and processing - all available from a single source.

Credit Card Processing is mainly done through a Merchant Account, which allows a merchant or business owner to accept payments through credit cards in response to the sale of goods and services. For this the merchant needs to open a Merchant Account, which can be done either through a Merchant Bank or a Merchant Service Provider (MSP). Merchant Account is not a free account but includes various types of charges such as monthly charges, interchange fees (which is a percentage or per item charge), Authorization fee, monthly minimum fee, state fee etc.

Types of Credit Card Processing

  • Credit card terminal: Credit Card electronic equipment in which the merchant or the business owner swipes the credit card or enters additional information through typing the keys present on the terminal machine. Credit card terminal machines require electric or battery power for functioning. The information can be transmitted from the terminal point to the main processing unit through telephone line, cellular services, Internet and wireless.
  • Payment Gateway is a typical e-commerce ASP service (Application Service Provider) equivalent to a physical Point-of-sale (POS) terminal, located in almost all business outlets. In these terminals sensitive information is encrypted (for e.g. credit card no.) ensuring secured and secret passage of information between customer and merchant.

A Credit Card Processing service that is versatile & reliable can help a business increase sales by enabling:

  • Accept all Forms of Payment - all major credit cards, debit cards etc.
  • Accept Payments Anywhere
  • Get Fraud and Security Protection

Credit Card Processing is undergoing more technological advancements for faster transformation of payment information to give businesses the required competitive edge.
