ROCKLAND, MA…The holiday season may be over, but the spirit of giving continues into the new year, at least as it pertains to the construction of a new home for Iraq War veteran Brian Fountaine through Homes for Our Troops. Most recently, Hancock TV & Appliance and GW Lumber, two DirectBuy of Boston South vendors, agreed to make a contribution to the new home, which is being constructed in Plymouth.

Based in Quincy, Massachusetts, Hancock TV & Appliance (www.hancocktvandappliance.com) will contribute a brand new refrigerator, oven range and dishwasher to the new home, a total retail value of just under $4,000. In addition, West Bridgewater’s GW Lumber (www.fortewoodflooring) will be contributing more than 1,800 square feet of White Oak and tile for all the home’s bathrooms.

“It’s really gratifying to see how our family of vendors have stepped up to help make Sgt. Fountaine’s home a reality,” said John Massaria, owner of DirectBuy of Boston South. “I believe we owe our returning troops, particularly wounded soldiers, more than a debt of gratitude and it’s heartwarming to see that the people you work and do business with like Hancock TV & Appliance and GW Lumber share that belief.”

Homes for Our Troops began construction on Veteran’s Day weekend last November and completion is anticipated early in 2008. Besides Hancock TV & Appliance and GW Lumber’s donations, other contributions from DirectBuy of Boston South and its vendors include the kitchen cabinetry and bathroom vanity, chosen during Sgt. Fountaine and his fiancée’s tour of DirectBuy of Boston South’s Rockland, Massachusetts showroom.

“I used to work construction with my father so I have a pretty good idea of how much these kind of things cost,” said Fountaine, a double amputee. “We can’t thank DirectBuy of Boston South and its vendors, not to mention Homes for Our Troops and all the other vets and volunteers who have helped and continue to help build our home, for their kindness and support.”
