Do You Know How to Sell Your Business as a Leader
How many times have you been asked what type of business are you in? Probably everyday, how well you answer the question will have a huge impact on the people listening.
Think about it for a moment, this is your one minute or less to impress the audience or to give a generic answer that is heard everyday. Let’s use an example, I own a window cleaning business, we use green products to help the environment, we travel up to 100 miles from our home base and guarantee our work. If you should happen to know of anyone desiring our services I would sincerely appreciate the referral. Here are a few of my business cards, please give me some of yours and explain what you do so I can try and send some business your way.
What you don’t want to say is I own a window cleaning business, end of statement. We used that as an example but whatever your business is elaborate on it and display your passion and energy.
Another area that owners overlook is business cards. If you are asked for a business card and you don’t have any in your possession you have just made a major mistake. What would you think if you asked someone for a business card and they said they didn’t have any with them? Be honest with yourself what would you think, that’s exactly what people will think of you if you answer is I don’t have any with me.
I can’t emphasis enough the importance of following up with the new contacts you make. Always have a pen with you and on the back of business cards write yourself a few notes about the person so you can follow up with a few personal comments. This displays that you were sincerely interested in them and sincerely desire to develop a business relationship.
The next step is to get a personal meeting with your new contacts and build a special trust and confidence that allows all of you to be successful. This is how you can sell your business to future business partners.
