There must be effective communication methods that can be a great help in achieving a successful communication. Communication is defined as the sending and receiving of ideas, thoughts or feelings from one person to one or more persons in such a way that the person receiving it understands it in the same way that the sender wants him/her to understand.

Hence it is a two-way process for which the binding force is the feedback loop. Unless the receiver gives feedback - verbal or non-verbal - to the speaker, the speaker will not be able to continue the information for too long.

To be effective the message must be clearly understood by the receivers and also the receivers should be able to supply some feedback. When feedback occurs it is known as two-way communication and is seen as the most effective form of communication. The best example of this is direct face-to-face communication as the sender can get an immediate reaction in terms of the oral reply and also importantly from the receivers body language

There are three major areas of communication. The verbal communication includes the written and spoken communications. The non-verbal area includes the body language. And the last area is listening, that have three types; active listening, passive listening and reflective listening.

Among the areas, the most important type of listening is active listening. Active listening goes beyond regular listening as the listener encourages both the share of information as well as feelings. Active Listening is the key to building relationships as it displays genuine interest. When there is a key note speaker, passive listening is appropriate. Since the speaker do all the talking and the audience is in training or education mode. Reflective listening on the other hand is appropriate when the person is worried, frustrated, confused or upset. It is about acknowledging the feeling more than the content. You reflect or echo what the person seems to be feeling.
