Finlay Plant South East Supplies Customised Reclaimer To J O'Doherty Haulage

Finlay Plant South East has supplied a specially customised reclaimer to J O'Doherty Haulage – developed to save space within their North London based recycling facility.

The Terex Finlay 883 Reclaimer has been configured to include two belts on one side, to maximise space at J O'Doherty's Edmonton headquarters.

This is the second 883 Reclaimer supplied by Finlay Plant South East – part of the Finlay Group of companies - to J O'Doherty Haulage. The plant is used to produce recycled aggregate.

Work on-site is also supported by two Terex Finlay 694 mobile inclined screens – used to produce single sized aggregates – also supplied by Finlay Plant South East.

James O'Doherty, owner of J O'Doherty Haulage, said: "We work in a fairly restricted zone and the general configuration of the 883 is the fines belt out one side and the middle product out the other.

"We part exchanged our previous 883 for this one, and specified a design that would put the fines belt and the middle product on the one side so it can be set up in a confined area.

"We chose to purchase this second 883 because of its reliability and the service and back-up support we receive from Finlay Plant South East. Our first 883 was brought in 2003 and was part exchanged for this new model.

J O'Doherty was founded in 1987 by James O'Doherty who started out as a single owner driver.

Now approaching 25 years in business, the company has grown from strength to strength, specialising in all aspects of haulage, waste transfer, recycling as well as skip and plant hire.

The focus of the business is on quality, careful management, and environmental protection – with high levels of customer service.

J O'Doherty is also committed to the latest technology to deliver recycled products.

The range of the Terex Finlay 883 enables the company to produce three sizes of product – including recycled aggregate for

sub base.

Leon Sheehy, managing director of Finlay Plant South East, said: "The 883 reclaimer gives J O'Doherty's the flexibility and performance to produce a high level of product.

"The machinery also takes account of the different types of material being fed through.

"The belts can run at different speeds depending on how dry the material is at the in-feed point. If the material is very dry they can speed up the belts, but for far wetter material the belts can be slowed down to enable it to get over the screen box."

The key reason why some firms thrive while some implode during an financial recession is still a puzzle to many people business-owning business owners. Some wrongly assume that all businesses should suffer via recessionary cycles. But the truth is that some companies are usually essentially recession-proof, and it is not necessarily because they are much larger, better known, or a lot more generously capitalized.
