There is one thing that suppliers online must learn, once they cross the Fortune1000, potential multinational purchasing companies aren't coming forth as they used to. Dealing with this requires the suppliers online to create an environment which offers exactly what the global sourcing community needs. Multinational purchasing or global sourcing doesn't entirely differ from retail buying meaning that even if suppliers online are good, these global sourcing companies like to touch and experiment with before buying.

Suppliers online urgently need to address a few key issues if they want to break into big league as the conventional trading is. The issues essentially pertain to reliability, security and dependability, not all multinational purchasing and global sourcing firms are looking at cost cutting alone. No doubt, most suppliers online comply with the law but the key for global sourcing managers lie in identifying such suppliers online. Strangely enough, suppliers online are resorting to giving away petty promotional gifts which in a multinational purchasing context has the danger of being castigated as shabby. Of late, some suppliers online have grown in stature and are based in countries that have adapted WTO and multilateral trade treaties. This comes as a reassurance that the suppliers online are working at overcoming the issues raised by the global sourcing and multinational purchasing community.

Suppliers online are hoping to break the barriers small global sourcing and multinational purchasing firms, given the rising popularity of internet. Those not particular about implementing the demands of multinational purchasing market are finding it difficult to turning a profit, finding themselves running out of capital and are eventually shutting their shops. What is disheartening is, some online suppliers are engaging in deceptive/misleading practices with regard to marketing and use of technology despite the law demanding them to disclose information on their business, the goods or services offered and the transaction itself before they woo multinational purchasing firms.

Suppliers online must treat sensitive information provided by global sourcing and multinational purchasing firms with care. Suppliers online must remember that the present day global sourcing firms expect as much information about the suppliers as mandated by the law and this includes

1. Location details , to ensure the global sourcing agents can reach them offline

2. Email and/or IM for online contacts

3. A point of contact within the organization like customer care, helpline etc

4. A 1-800 helpline and preferably another listed telephone number

5. Internet domain name must provide accurate information to the internet registrar
