Helmsman Services is an award-winning outsourced training management and health and safety training provider that has been in business for over 10 years.

The outsource arm of the company specialises in managing the training and development for construction and care companies, and are experts at obtaining training grants for their clients.

Due to their success, a sister company – Helmsman Safety Services - specialising in health and safety training and advice was created to offer value-for-money, professional services across all industries.

The company works closely with CITB/Construction Skills to help businesses gain the maximum in training grants, and because of their buying power, offers clients discounts on many national providers and, where possible, gains rebates from any other Government funding initiatives.

Biographies

TONY WILLSON      

Tony’s business background was originally as a lawyer and then ran, or started and owned several businesses including ones in manufacturing, event organisation and property development.

In the last recession in 1990 when made redundant through the crash of a parent company, he joined the global Dale Carnegie Training Organisation both managing the Essex region and instructing 5 different courses.  In 2000 he left Dale Carnegie to set up Helmsman Services Ltd with his wife, Lindsey.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management and an Accredited Investor in People Adviser.

For 4 years he was Regional Chairman of the East Region BBC Advisory Council and sat on the English National Forum, reporting to the Governors.  He now sits on various construction industry committees and is Membership Officer for the Essex Institute of Directors.

His interests are as a Rotarian with Colchester Centurion Club, he sings with Essex Police Choir, is an International Fence Judge for British Eventing and has, after 35 years, taken up rally navigating again, competing in the National Endurance Rally Championship.
