It is a very interesting note when we shift our mind to think about how these CEOs start their day's work in their executive offices, the conference rooms, the kitchens and of course the washrooms.
Do they start the daily work earlier than most of his employees?
Do they start the daily work later than most of his employees?
How many hours they work in each day?
How many goals they set for themselves as CEOs?
How many goals they achieve in terms of financial, production, services, market and good will?
How many policies they set for the effective and efficient running of the company in areas of human resources, staff management, staff development, marketing management, marketing development, production management, finance management?
How Are the CEOs and their staff paid?
Are the CEOs salary pay scale correlated with the rest of the staff as a whole?
Are they under paid as compared to the company staff payroll?
Are they over paid as compared to the company staff payroll?
Are they over paid as compared to market?
What is his contribution in terms of general staff development and management development?
What is his contribution to the company in terms of well being of the company?
What is his contribution to the society ?
Going back to the TV news comment we find there is a very huge gap between top CEOs earning against the average Canadian employee. Why there is such a huge difference? Is the CEO pay model right? Is there a better alternative? But importantly, is the existing payroll model overlooking the basic minimum wage earners? (I would talk a bit more on this particular topic)
Anyway, the TV news above is a good food for our thought.
Imagine a top earning CEO coffee breaks and lunch breaks during the year. Assuming he takes
1.50 hours per day ( 1 hr for lunch, 30 minutes for breakfast & coffee) If there are 220 working days (365 days less the public holidays and vacation leave, etc) he would be using 1.50 hours X 220 = 330 hours (41.25 days) in the whole year for his coffee and lunch breaks. If we translated the 41.25 CEO working days into his money, it is C$15,600 X 41.25 = C$643,500.
The CEO cost incurred during the breakfast and lunch breaks is C$643,500 per year.
Does it make sense?
I leave it to my readers to calculate how much it will be the cost for the CEOs doing their
daily pee pee and boo boo. Let me know and put your answer in the comment.
"I want to become a CEO in 2007 !" I said to my wife jokingly. And she simply smiled.
