Selling corporate giveaways is unique and is one of the most challenging careers in sales because it has a unique system that is structured effectively. It consists of manufacturers, suppliers and distributors. They work together hand in hand to deliver products and services to end users, in order to meet a common goal. A person selling promotional items should understand the scope and how it works to build a solid customer data base foundation and once properly done, he or she has the potential to grow and earn a lucrative income. The person must need to understand how the order management works through its continuous communication with both suppliers and customers. They usually work with distributors either in a part time or full time basis. You can even work from home where computer with internet connection, phone line and business email set up. These are just the basic tools that a person has to understand to sell effectively.

He or she should have a strong customer orientation to deliver a quality service. In this way, a person could retain its customers because there's a chance for a customer to have some reorders or order another item which is the blood line of the business.

Here are some of the few tips on how to sell promotional products or corporate giveaways:

1. Work only with a distributor who has a good reputation in selling promotional items. It doesn't matter if these distributors have been existing for a long time or a new distributor, as long as it can guarantee to provide a better service to your customers. Make sure to understand your terms with them about giving your compensation.
2. If you work from home, have your computer set up properly with internet connection, email address you are going to use preferably a business email and a dedicated phone line. These are the tools that you need in order for you to sell corporate giveaways.
3. Understand the work flow or the process involved. This includes giving quotes to clients, placing the order and shipping them. You need to keep in touch with your customers most of the time to let them informed about the status of their order. You need to follow up after the order has been delivered to them to find out about how everything went. A strong customer relationship is the foundation to build a career in the ads specialties industry.
4. Attend some trainings and seminars to enhance your knowledge about promotional products and it is also advisable to attend some of these trade shows.

6. Communicate with your clients more often. In that way, it doesn't only end your relationship with them selling promotional items.
