Implementing Six Sigma Philosophies From The Ground Up

Six Sigma is a business methodology which focuses on production, manufacturing, quality, customer satisfaction, employee problem-solving, and a general attitude of obtaining the highest standard possible. Whether the business is a multimillion dollar company which mass produces a product, or whether the business is a small business operating with a handful of employees to provide a service, implementing Six Sigma philosophies and tools will give the company a solid structure and foundation on which to build upon.

The groundwork for Six Sigma was established in the 1980's and was based upon decades of improvement procedures that had been utilized in a variety of companies by professionals who strove to increase standards to better serve and satisfy the consumer. Since the creation of Six Sigma philosophies, methodology, and tools, Six Sigma attributes and traits have been adapted by thousands of companies with the results ending in a higher achievement level.

Setting goals is one of the primary functions of Six Sigma and striving to meet these goals in every department and every level of a company will have a profound effect on how the company operates. How the company operates is a major factor in whether the company is a profitable company. Many companies will send higher level management employees to Six Sigma training, however, studies and research have shown that sending employees at all levels to Six Sigma training will increase standards and levels of efficiency at every level of the business.

If you have recognized that your business needs improvement and your employees could use inspiration, motivation, incentive, and a better set of tools to be more productive, Six Sigma doctrine and philosophies will provide a solid foundation for your business and your employees to operate on. It is advised that all levels of employees, from CEO, management, human resources, down to entry level workers receive Six Sigma training to incorporate a higher set of standards and give everyone within the company an opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential as an employee.

When entry level employees learn the principles of Six Sigma, these employees will provide the company with a bright future by demonstrating unique and strict work ethic which will help to propel the company to the next level. Many companies focus on providing high quality training to upper level management. This is extremely beneficial; however, companies that practice this procedure often tend to skip over entry level and "middle class" employees for the same type of ethics and quality control training. When this training is provided to all levels of employees from the ground up, the company is adhering to a strict work ethic which will further the company's commitment to meet the expectations of the customer.

Ensuring customer satisfaction is the quickest way to gain customer loyalty, which in turn, will provide for the company for a long period of time. Word of mouth amongst happy customers is the best and the quickest way to gain customer loyalty. This can be achieved by ensuring that all levels of employees have received the appropriate tools needed to provide the best outcome for the business.
