It Always Precedes Success

There are simply some things in life that you can always count on. Some natural laws that hold true regardless of what we do or how we do it. Achieving success has a number of those natural laws associated with it that simply will not allow us to take a short cut. If you have ever succeeded at anything in life you know exactly what I am talking about and if you are reading this, then it is a safe bet that you know.

The downside of this discussion is that knowing, remembering and putting something into practice is a not always so easy. Having broken my normal routine as a student and study for a test, made a world of difference. While there was still some pretest anxiety and some tough questions, the overall experience was much different than the norm. To make things even better, I can still remember the exhilaration of getting an "A" on that test.

However, prior to the next test I was right back to the same old routine. Not sure what it was on this particular occasion, probably playing sports with my buddies, but it was certainly far more important than taking time to study for a test the next day. Fast forward to an hour before the test and somehow I felt for sure that cramming in those last few minutes would make a difference. The shortcut!

For all of you that know how to ride a bicycle, you probably even had a few bumps, bruises and a few scraps to go along with the learning process. Even in light of possible pending physical harm we persisted through the process and now when climbing on a bike we don't think twice about that learning experience.

In light of the above facts, why is it that I talk with people on a daily basis that are starting out in a Network Marketing business and expect success tomorrow, next week or in a month or so? More importantly why are there seasoned professionals that lead people to believe the same? While they may not exactly tell them that they will be set for life in the next month or so, they certainly don't explain all that is required to acquire success. While I have come a long ways, I must admit that there have been times when I really did what I could to avoid the details (natural laws) attached with that success.

The real reason is Fear. Fear of explaining to someone in graphic detail that they are going to take some bumps, bruises, and scraps along the way before they really get to where they want to be. As if that is not enough there is going to be some anxiety, some sacrifice, hard work and some failures along the way.

What? You mean that the successes that I really want to experience as a result of building a prosperous network marketing business are going to require something more than simply filling out a form and giving someone my credit card.

Anxiety, Sacrifice and Failure all typically show up at some time prior to you achieving the success that you are searching out. Please hear this: If you are not willing to go through all of these don't expect success to simply show up at your front door. While we have all heard of people that appear to have just fallen into a pot of gold, many times there was a lot of effort, learning, sacrifice and failures that took place before they fell into that pot of gold. Yes, there are those rare exceptions where someone does experience a high level of success without all of those obstacles, but that is not the norm.

As a general rule, if you are not happy with your current situation, regardless of what that may be, something is going to have to change. That something is you! You may need to learn some new skills, spend the time to improve on existing skills, put those skills into practical use and yes, as a part of that process experience some failures. Luckily for those of us in the Network Marking industry those failures will typically come in the form of someone telling us NO. I haven't had too many situations where physical harm is a part of the equation.

There is a price to be paid and that price is not typically something that can be put on your favorite credit card. The sooner that we accept that fact and are willing to face it head on, the sooner we can get to the real business of building a successful business and financial independence. More importantly, if we are not willing to accept that fact, how can we expect any of our business associates to come to grips with these truths? The real answer is that we can't.

Remember back learning to ride a bicycle for the first few times. We fell, got bruises, cuts and were in general very unstable until we got the hang of this new skill. The same rules still apply. We all have to go through the learning process of acquiring new skills, improving on existing skills, dealing with some rejection and feeling the pressure and anxiety of the process. If you are willing to persist, you will find that success is waiting just on the other side. Remember, if it were easy everyone would do it and there would be nothing particularly special about your accomplishments. To Your Success!
