In today's economy, it is increasingly important to find ways to improve energy efficiency. Fortunately, there are a variety of programs available to support your business in becoming more energy efficient to reduce both costs and environmental impact. Dial One Wolfedale Electric has found the best financial incentives available for your energy-efficiency projects – see which one is right for your business!

THE SMART PROGRAM

It is a critical time for the manufacturing sector in Ontario, with tremendous pressure on businesses to cut costs and maximize productivity. Now there is help: with the support of the Government of Ontario, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) is reaching out to small and medium sized manufacturers and offering funding to implement productivity improvements in their facilities.

The SMART program provides up to $50,000 of financial support per project and requires that companies use the cash to embark on productivity improvement initiatives, ranging from lean manufacturing and design to process and quality improvement initiatives. The program also offers a number of tools to help businesses get started:

•The SMART Diagnostic and SMART Assessments programs help you uncover areas where improvements could be possible and the ways in which those improvements would affect your business.

•SMART Manufacturing Workshops give you all the information you need to understand the different productivity improvement projects available and how to get started.

To be eligible for the SMART program, your project must increase energy efficiency and/or reduce your company's environmental impact or implement best practices in information technology or automation. Applications are being accepted now through May 2009 – visit www.cme-smart.ca for more information or call Dial One Wolfedale Electric to learn about electrical energy efficiency projects that will help you lower energy costs!

HYDRO ONE: ELECTRICITY RETROFIT INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Are you looking to lower the cost of your investment in energy-efficient technology by up to $500,000? You can with the Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) from Hydro One. If you commit to increase your energy efficiency by upgrading your lighting, motors, transformers, cooling equipment or agricultural equipment, Hydro One will reimburse you for a portion of the technology purchase. The program is open to all commercial, industrial, agricultural and institutional Hydro One customers and offers two incentive options:

1.The prescriptive track provides rebates on predefined technology purchases.

2.Custom projects for retrofits that do not specifically include energy-efficient technologies may also be eligible for financial incentive if they will measurably reduce electrical peak demand. The required pre-approval evaluation reviews the power and energy performance improvement specifications and incentives are determined on each project's reduction in kW demand.

Not only can your business qualify for reimbursement of the costs associated with your retrofit, you will also realize monthly electricity cost savings as you reduce demand via energy-efficient technology.

Applications for this program must be submitted before December 31, 2009. Visit www.powersaver.ca for more information or call Dial One Wolfedale Electric today to learn more about the electrical innovations that can help you qualify for the ERIP program!
