New Spill Equipment Helps Beaches

Posted: Oct 29, 2010 |

Once an oil spill happens, a major threat is immediately proposed to the beaches as well as its wildlife. It may seem impossible to protect the beaches, but new spill equipment that is now on the market has proven to effectively stop the destruction of beaches and wildlife once an oil spill occurs. One of these new inventions is the HESCO® Concertainer® unit. With a welded mesh framework coated with Alu-Zinc along with geotextile materials, the HESCO® units act as an earth-filled gabion that becomes a wall of strength once filled with dirt, sand, crushed rock or granular materials. Oil that washed upon shore will meet the units first before the sandy beaches. The units can be placed a little off shore, so the oil has no chance of even ruining one grain of sand. They can be joined together with the use of pins to form miles of protection from oil spills. Clean up efforts after a spill can be made less difficult with the installation of this kind of spill equipment.

While the HESCO® units are commonly used as spill equipment, they can also be used as a protective beach barrier against floods and erosion. These are common occurrences along the beaches and can cause major damage if something is not done about it. The units can be buried underneath the sand and people can carry on their normal recreational activities on the sand like nothing was ever there. But once the forces of nature threaten to destroy the beach, the units go into action. They can preserve the sand that is on the beach and minimal erosion will take place.

Another great point about using HESCO® units as spill equipment is that they can be installed quickly. Two people can put the units up in as little as 20 minutes. A time-saving method of providing beach protection is appealing to property owners because storms and oil spills can come up on a beach fast. Also, the cost in labor can be greatly reduced because property owners will not have to spend as much paying laborers to install the units as they would if it were 1,500 flood sandbags, the equivalent to a 30-foot tier of the HESCO® units.

One of the oil spill clean up companies that is utilizing the HESCO® units as spill equipment is Integrated Protection Systems. They specialize in protecting beaches and will use their expertise to assist you if you need to protect your beach. For more, log on to www.bp-oil-spills.com.

It can bond with liquid hydrocarbons such as diesel, gasoline and oil and form a solid mass that floats in water, but it does not absorb water. Instead of just sponging or soaking up the oil like a boom does, Enviro Bond 403™ actually mole

Whenever an oil spill threatens beaches, one of the weapons used to combat it are flood sandbags. They can absorb the oil and then it is removed at another location. Sometimes the bags are cleaned and used again. However, by themselves they are not the most effective weapon. When you add an agent like Enviro Armour™ to the flood sandbags, then any oil that comes into contact with them is immediately turned into a floating solid. Most flood sandbags are made out of woven polypropylene and are abo

Oil spills can be among the worst environmental disasters that can happen. When an oil spill would occur in the past, there was little anyone could do. The key reason why some firms thrive while some implode during an financial recession is still a puzzle to many people business-owning business owners. There is definitely a search engine war going on and Google is making changes that are giving their users more control over how they surf the web. One of the main focuses of Google at the moment is to raise the bar on the quality of sites it shows to users. Recently they unleashed the Farmers Algorithm (which we wrote about a couple of weeks ago), but Google now has gone even further giving its users the power to block sites they don't want to see. What are the ramifications of this new resou

It's official! While there has been talk of an upcoming algorithm change from Google for at least a couple of months, these past couple of weeks saw a definite change in the way that Google ranks those sites on the web vying for top placement in its listings. So what is the big news? This algorithm specifically went after content farms and in addition to a broad extent low quality sites that have been gaming the system for higher rankings. Since the algorithm targeted content farmers, this a

Content is a driving force in attracting the attention of the major search engines and keeping visitors on your site, satisfied with the information you provide them and a lure for them to keep coming back. With so much content creation on the web, it can sometimes be difficult for Google to figure out just who created the content and if it is the original source.
