Online Printing Services: Learning the Ropes of Basic Printing Part 1

Getting the low down about online printing services can be quite tricky if you don’t know what you are looking for. It seems that there are too many blank fields to answer.

If you haven’t the experience of printing before or haven’t had the chance to venture to online printing, you need not worry. The whole process is easy and simple. It is not a maze-like transaction that needs constant checking.

As a matter of fact, online printing has been made simpler by breaking it down into a series of steps. You can track where you are and what you need to do next. Added to this, there are several features and services that have been made to accommodate all your printing needs, concerns and inquiries.

The Basic Steps of Printing
The steps involved in online printing are almost the same for all major printing companies. This standard helps it make easy for everyone to print. There are, however, a few exceptions where some printers leave out services you find in others.

Nevertheless, as with all transactions online, you need to have your email address ready and other contact information for your account. Payment is done through credit card so you need to have that handy too.

Now, to cue you in on what you should do and prepare, here are a series of steps involved in online printing.

Step 1. If you’re printing for the first, sometimes all you really need to know is that your prints should come out the way you wanted it to. You expect your prints to come out with the right colors, size and of course, the fine detail you want to see.

• But of course, you’re printer needs more information. It will ask about paper or card stock, quantity and turnaround time. Other details that might be needed are page number, folding and binding among others. You just have to scroll down or click open some windows so you know what your options are for each category.

• Online printing companies are complete with product information so you can see just how each one contributes to your print. It helps if you touch up on these terms and review them. When you have input everything you need, a printing estimate will appear.

• Printing estimates are the approximate figure you would have to pay for your specified job order. Printing estimates also give out figures for custom printing projects – those print jobs that need materials not commonly offered by printers.

Step 2. Once you have filled in all the fields, it is time for you to upload your file or design. Printing companies have certain file requirements, so make sure you meet them.

• If you stubbornly refuse to do this, any of the following could happen: 1)the printing company will reject your file; 2)you will have to re-do your design and start over again; or 3)you would have to pay extra charges for professional fee if they accept your file.
• Without meeting the proper printing requirements, you would waste valuable time, money and effort. This is something you would want to avoid if you are working with a small budget and if you are chasing after a deadline.

• Basically, what you need to do is to check what file format you should send your file in. Make sure your design is in CMYK and that the resolution is enough. Other than this, you have to have bleeds and other things specified by your printing company of choice.

Online printing services are really simple. What you need is just a grasp of things, on what you need to remember and what you should prioritize. Steps 3 and 4 are in the following article wherein you would learn about proofing, shipping and the like.
