Outside Adventure Continues to organise great Team Building Days Out

XL Vets hold annual conference at Eastnor Castle XLVets is a group of 42 independently owned, progressive veterinary practices, all committed to the future of the UK livestock industry. Spanning the length and breadth of the UK, they work together, sharing experience, knowledge and skills in order to define and deliver the highest standards of veterinary practice, animal health and productivity. XL Vets approached Outside Adventure to organise the activities for the afternoon of 3 national conferences that they were holding at Eastnor Castle. They were keen that the participants were split into teams and given the opportunity to compete head to head on a number of activities. Outside put together a programme of 5 activities which were a combination of physical and mental challenges. At each activity the vets were able to compete head to head with another team. Activities included: building a raft and completing a course; crossing a Tyrolean traverse and keeping a pipe full of water; completing the construction of a bridge before winching a Land Rover into position and driving it over the bridge; a puzzle zone, descending from the castle turret on the 850ft zipwire and trying to drop a bomb onto the target. The teams were scored and ranked on each activity to give an overall winner, spot prizes were also awarded to individuals who stood out. The scores were kept over the three weeks allowing all 30 teams to be ranked against one another. Helen Sykes, Chair, Practice Management Forum, XL Vet UK Ltd said; “I am writing on behalf of the delegates at the recent Practice Management Forum to express our thanks to the team at D3 for getting us all safely through a truly amazing and exhilarating sequence of experiences at Eastnor Castle this week. You all managed to treat us all so gently (well, some more gently than others!), courteously, and with a such a good sense of humour and quiet assurance; and you also made us feel as though you were really enjoying it too (which I hope you were). I would recommend your services without hesitation to anyone hoping to develop teams and/or just have a great day of activities. Please accept my thanks on behalf of everyone on the Practice Management Forum.” Castle Treasure Hunt for Howdens Joinery Howdens Joinery invest in their staff and regularly reward and motivate their them with events both in Britain and Europe. This year they were looking for a summer event for their head office which was fresh and exciting and unlike anything they had done before. They approached Outside Adventure who organised a Castle Treasure Hunt Event to suit the objective for 45 participants. A giant aerial map signposted 20 different activities that could be completed to accrue points. Activities include dropping ‘bombs’ from a zip wire, crate stack, operating a crane whilst blindfolded, compass navigation trail, giant puzzles and high ropes. The evening was spent in the ever popular Ger tented village just above the venue on the side of the Malvern Hills where the participants enjoyed the wilderness cookery programme and slept the night. The event continued the following day with high and low ropes and an adrenalin packed fun day. Kevin Thomas MD of Howdens said ““The whole event was a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and try new things as well as a chance to find out a little more about ourselves and each other!” Employees’views “The activities were well organised, sufficiently challenging and different to previous experiences” “The wilderness cookery was the surprise package for me and was about 17 times more successful than I thought it was going to be!” “It was awesome – more fun than I thought possible! Probably the most ‘team building’ event we’ve done”
