Polls Provide Participation

You're probably asking, why polls? Well, why not? They're a great way to interact with your readers. Polls are effective tools for gathering feedback. The results can be turned into organic content; thus, they actually generate original content for your blog.

Personally, I got into polls because I was looking for ways to make my blog more fun and interactive for my readers. I figured polls were the best means to achieve this, so I did some research on how to create polls and add them to my blog. (It's actually a really easy process, even for beginners.) From there on, I became addicted to online polls, widgets, stats, and opinions.

Still not sure why you need a poll on your blog? Here are five good reasons:

• Polls allow your readers to become more involved in your blog. You're practically turning them into your co-authors, and this is an invaluable user experience.

• Polls encourage discussions among your readers about the topics on your blog. Like comments, they let you know what your audience thinks about you, your writing, and your blog content. But unlike comment forms which need to be filled out, online polls can be answered with just a few clicks.

• The statistics generated by polls can really enhance your content and take them to the next level. In addition, you can analyze poll results later on, just like those Gallup folks on television.

• The number of people who leave comments on a blog is usually small compared to the actual number of readers. Plenty of people lurk around a blog and prefer to remain anonymous, for various reasons. A poll, however, will get a much higher participation rate and is therefore a more accurate reflection of your audience's thoughts and opinions.

• Polls can help you determine which direction to take your blog. Ask your readers what you should do next with your blog and take a vote. They may also be able to provide some other great suggestions. But only ask if you're willing to take the results seriously and follow through on them.

Overall, it is important to remember the simplest fact of all- an introduction is a polite way to meet new people. Saying "hello" is more likely to get the attention of students compared to "answer these questions." The simpler and more polite you make the process, the more likely students and parents will take the time to share their input with you.
