Small Business Email Marketing and The 3 Steps To Success Doing it

Posted: Feb 14, 2011 |
Small business email marketing is the future of getting product to the purchaser. It is inherently an online version of direct mail beyond the sting (email is free-well, so far). It's hard to believe the world we live in today. Everything is moving fast and no one has the time to do much of anything anymore except 'get more done'. And most would agree that its safe to preempt that chasing down customers is not a gratifying task when working adeptly. How about having them come to YOU??

The answer is simple:

Build a focused list of email prospects that are interested in what you are vending, and that have agreed to take on emails from you on a certain topic through a double opt in process.

Double opt in means that you are NOT spamming them. This means that they have sought out information regarding a certain subject that YOU are a specialist in. If you're not a specialist, then of course this won't work for you as well, but it could still help you quite a bit.

I know people with no website that make thousands per week using this precise method.

The second move for you is to set up an array of 'auto-responder' emails to send to them containing applicable and favorable information (setting up 10 auto-responder messages is a good starting number). No spammy 'make $134,572.89 in 2 seconds' stuff. People are too intelligent for that. In fact, the people that advertise with "hype' rarely succeed because 99% of the time they are stretching the truth to compensate for the inferiority of the product or service they are selling. Remember that the folks that opt in are your knowledge family. Treat them like a family (well.. not a real family, but friends). Take care of them. Do not sell them stuff that is going to rip them off or they wont trust you. In small business email marketing only send them relevant and useful stuff. Not hypey fluff! You will surely fail if you use over-use hype.

The third step is to start to build your website. This process doesn't have to be an exhausting task or a grandiose pain in the neck either. Websites have become almost 'push button' and are becoming more and more so as each year passes. Wordpress is an admirable platform for this. Check with Go Daddy Hosting or Gator Hosting to see what types of deals you might be able to waggle there. Or if you already have hosting ask them if they have "fantastico" in the control panel. This is the feature that will install Wordpress for you automatically. Unfortunately I can't get into design about wordpress in this short article, but you can google it and you'll get tons of hits. There are some great video tutorials out there.

And lastly the question that everyone has. "How do I get subscribers?". That's a good wringer...that has a great answer.

In small business email marketing there is Co-Registration. Co Registration is when some opts into say some huge companies email list and on the 'thanks for subscribing page' there will be an array of checkboxes that the consumer can then check to subscribe to similar advice. These leads are excellent and are very inexpensive. They are also 'double opt-in' which means that they have given their direct agreement and it has been digitally documented to keep you out of trouble for spamming. Remember when writing to teach them what you know. They want you to tell them "how to" do things better. How to be a better internet marketer, copywriter, blacksmith, insurance agent, and self-storage boss or whatever. If you can help them out a little they will help you out ALOT.

Think of it this way-If you had a list of 50,000 and you sent out ONE email to your list and it had a 1% conversion rate (percent of people who purchased the $10 product you were promoting), 500 people would have bought it (1% of 50,000). And at $10 each, your total take home would be $5000. Not bad for sending out just one email!

Do it again as many times as you want. To find out more about how to take advantage of this singular and powerful way of marketing (even for people without a website), check out the resource box below this article (they always try and hide them!!)
