The Breakthrough of Touch Technology

A lot of people could say they “wouldn’t be anywhere without their iPhone” and of course, that is an outrageous statement. When you think about how much technology has changed our lives, without our laptops, cell phones and our GPS systems, we would be lost. Besides convenience and ease, touch technology has affected many people’s lives who would consider touch technology a god send rather than a mere convenience.
 
People with disabilities have used touch technologies for years to operate computers, phones, operate a wheel chair and so much more. For people with severe disabilities, they are able to lead fuller lives with touch technology. Touch technology is also found in the medical, aviation and engineering fields.
Using capacitive touch technology. several touch features like the touchpad on iPhones gesture recognition technology to allow a person to zoom in and out of pictures or the pinch-and-expand gesture. The technology even allows a person to flick their finger toward the edge of a trackpad and the cursor will scroll in which ever direction was flicked, no matter if you lift a finger off the pad.
 
The next exciting wave of touch technology products includes Microsoft’s multi touch table called the Surface Project. It’s basically a touch screen table top. A person’s fingertips alone are the only way to access the computer. No keyboards or computer mouse is necessary. Included within the touch screen are five infrared cameras that sense fingers or anything else that touches the surface and a DLP projector turned on its side to generate the screen image people see. The top is made of a scratch proof and damage resistant surface.
 
Because the technology is a pretty penny right now, most people won’t be able to afford them in their homes just yet, but soon casinos, hotels and restaurants will be the first to introduce the new touch sensation to the world.
